I had Mr. Roman fix quite a few problematic areas in my home. He arrived at the appointed time as discussed and was very professional. all of us who have lived with a flat roof know the dread that comes season to season..the result of possible leaks and water invasion...well, this summer season, I was hit!, my specific trouble came from shoddy and unprofessional flashing in key areas of my roof--the result of a poor choice of a roofing contractor. I wasn't gonna let it happen again...so this time, I met with 8 roofers and I chose Roman Supinski and crossed my fingers--Man did he come through! as a certified Firestone installer, Roman provided us with the comfort that we needed: a new precision roof with comprehensive flashing. He operated like a surgeon and in doing so, he squashed the anxiety of flat roof ownership..Roman is the real deal..I"ve done all the "leg work " for you. Go Roman!

Renovation to my kitchen was exceptional. The selection of new cabinets, flooring, appliances and the backsplash were guided by their professional experience. The workers were skilled and knowledgeable. Work was done in a timely manner and I look forward to using All Remodeling again in the near future when I renovate and update my master bath. I am satisfied with everything that was done.

Our business with Wisebuild construction has now concluded, and we could not be happier with the results. The site supervisor Frank, was a down to earth person who was patient with us in regard to answering questions and had a keen understanding of roofing materials, techniques, and the specifics about what we could expect from his company. After looking at the paint colors on our freshly painted house, Frank recommended a darker roof to compliment the house. While skeptical at first, Frank's recommendation proved to be right. On the day of completion, neighbors walked by and complimented us on our choice of colors saying that the roof complimented the house and the house complimented the roof. We agreed, and are glad we listened to Frank's suggestion. Throughout both days of removing the old roof and installing the new one, I was up and down off the roof watching what was happening and how it was happening. The efficiency of the Wisebuild roofers was impressive. They worked like a fine tuned machine, always moving, always supporting one another when necessary, and yet demonstrating that each man in his own right was a professional roofer. When the day was over I felt in awe of their skills, their work ethic, and even the playful demeanor between members of the crew. When the roof, the skylight, the vents, the chimney, the gutters, and the cleanup were completed, we felt grateful that we had chosen Wisebuild to replace our roof. As a retired school teacher, I would give the company an A+. We feel nothing but goodwill and gratitude toward Wisebuild, Frank, and every member of that work crew. As it turned out, every claim made by Frank came to fruition. After this experience, my wife and I will never turn to any other roofing company for any level of needed support.

It's been a pleasure to work with Nick and his crew. We needed major exterior work done, new siding, roof repairs and more random work. I have worked with a lot of contractors, and so far Nick’s crew have been impressive. They have the experience and knowledge to give us good recommendations and helped us to save money by reducing the scope of unnecessary work. Their fee are also reasonable, we would have spent much more if not for their experienced inputs. Thank you, guys! Will definitely hire them again.

I called Tony after a tree limb fell directly through my mom's roof into a bedroom. My mom lives alone and was so worried about what she was going to do. Tony came that day to look at the damage. He started work the next morning, removing the tree from the roof, patched the roof, fixed the ceiling inside the house, and even swept the roof free of any debris. He made my mom know she was in good hands, and that's most important of all! He's a wonderful carpenter, and a good guy with a great sense of humor.

Bobby came with his worker and together they did a great job - of course only time will tell if I have a problem with the roof hole in the future. Bobby took pictures to show me the hole and the fixed work too. He was very efficient, fast and professional. I did think his price was a bit high for less that an hour's work, but I would hire him again. Thank you

It was a pleasure dealing with Alec and AV Contracting. He immediately came out when I first contacted him to replace the roof on my Shed that was almost thirty years old. His price was competitive and well within my budget. He showed me different samples as well as made recommendations for the type of shingles and capping I should replace the roof with and venting for the roof/shed. Most important, the job/roof when completed what excellent - Meticulously installed with impressive installation. It took him one day to complete the job. Another note, that impressed me was that Alec was friendly and approachable. No matter when I called or text him, he was happy to assist me or answer any questions. When I replace the roof in my house, I will not bother contacting any one else- Alec and AV Contracting have my business in the future.

I really appreciated the time, care and concern that the company had toward my great need. I was in a 911 situation with my gutters, and I called them back because they did my roofing work- (not the gutters) in 2014) - and they really did a great Job with solving my issue!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

  • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
    • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
  • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
  • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
  • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
  • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
