I am 59 years old, a wife and a mother of 5 children. For the first time in my life, I had to hire a criminal attorney to defend my youngest son against criminal charges. I found Brian on the internet. He came to my home for our first visit and answered my many questions that I had about the case. He was not over confident which I appreciated, but he was optimistic, which I also appreciated.. He went to see my son in Northampton Prison as promised. I am aware of the vital importance of an attorneys representation, integrity and expertise when fighting for justice in a complex system. Therefore I will be giving reviews throughout the case to offer an honest evaluation of the legal services that my family receives. Why? Because although I did interview Brian and two other attorneys, Brian's reviews influenced my decision to hire him. Honest reviews are important. People trust them!

Minwon successfully completed my green card process through an employer. Prior to consulting with Minwon, my case was declined by other lawyers, because of my company's financial situation, so Minwon provided me a creative and thoughtful solutions. Also, his explanation was always clear and easy to understand. His work was accurate and no major mistakes through out the process. As he is extremely popular lawyer, at some point, it was hard to get hold of him. Over all, my experience was very good. I appreciate Minwon to get me through this process. Thank you!

Recently, I had the need to find an Immigration attorney in order to help friends whom my wife and I met in Cuba. As it stands today – the American Embassy in Havana has been closed for Consular activities – and those friends, previously confirmed and approved for US Immigration, found themselves in legal limbo. As a US Naturalized Citizen of almost (40) years, I fully understand the process, but was at a loss to who to approach. I am short of superlatives to describe the great, no – SUPERB experience I had by contacting the RelisLaw. In my many years of professional transactions on behalf of one of the 100 largest Global companies, I can hardly recall many as dedicated, attentive and carrying - as Dr. Tamara Relis. Dr. Relis engaged immediately into research of the specific situation and was able to find enough background material to shed enough on the difficult situation to provide a logical path to greatly assist with the application process. I found RelisLaw legal practice knowledge of laws, rules – and most important – the sound direction and advice invaluable. Many thanks Dr. Relis.

I hired Meyer & Associates for a legal project and the firm went above and beyond what was required to get my task accomplished. Even though it was a relatively minor matter, Zachary Meyer personally handled everything completely exceeding all of my professional expectations. I have the utmost confidence in Meyer & Associates and intend to use their legal services for my future legal needs.

We used Leah for a most important legal matter and she was always there to talk over the phone or meet with us at our best time. Leah is very knowledgeable and not needing to go the through a book for answers, she knows her job well and won our case to prove that. I recommend her for all legal services that she covers, you will be in good hands as we were. We were more then happy with her price and services, thanks Leah.

Ira handled a complex case with a high degree of experience and professionalism. Most importantly he explained all of my options thoroughly, efficiently, and with transparency - so that I could ultimately make the best decisions along the way. He was always available for calls and email requests and I only spoke to Ira (unlike many of the bankruptcy mills where you are immediately handed off to an associate or paralegal). I highly recommend his services to anyone seeking hands on legal counsel.

I have used Mr Doyle for two case a DWI and a Aggravated Assault. He was fantastic. My Aggravated Assault case was downgraded to a disorderly persons and my license was only suspended for 3 months with minimal fines. Let me be honest I was 2x over the legal limit so I got a enormous break thanks to Mr. Doyle. I definitely recommend his service. He is dedicated to getting you off the hook :-)

Ellis helped me through a emotionally difficult legal matter, he made a painful and scary experience much less painful. He was the only attorney I consulted with that did not try to scare me into hiring him. He was straightforward and kind in every interaction we had. He spoke with me at length on the phone and in person before he was hired to handle my case. His assistant Lindsay was very sweet, and helpful as well. He was not the cheapest attorney, but you get what you pay for apparently. Ellis was worth every penny. In my case, he surpassed even his own expectations, maybe luck was on my side. Regardless, Ellis was extremely effective, and this rave review is a 100% genuine. I highly recommend his services.

I had the pleasure of working with Mr. Qadeer and his team on three separate issues and I've been pleasantly surprised with the amount of dedication and hard work they've put in my case all three times. I applied for my green card renewal a year ago and I was scared of the outcome as I had a criminal history, but Mr. Qadeer and his team put together a great application package and the process went smoothly. I worked with them to get my criminal records expunged recently and yet again my case was handled in a very professional way and I am extremely satisfied with how things went. I was punctually updated on every single mail that was received/delivered and about the status of my case. I recently applied for my naturalization and I had no doubt that I'd get through the process smoothly because I knew I was in good hands. Today, I am a US citizen all thanks to this amazing team. I highly recommend Omar Qadeer's Law Firm to anyone who's looking for legal help regarding the concerned matters. Their rates are very reasonable and I find it very convenient that they offer payment plans. All in all, I'm very pleased with Mr. Qadeer and his team - especially Andre, who is very thorough and has always pointed me in the right direction with his advice. Can't thank the whole team enough for their hard work, dedication and for making things so much easy for me.

Mr. Schutz. Is my Attorney for two very disagreeable Tenants-Landlord Cases. I was a total wreck. He came in calm, efficient, extremely knowledgeable and handled.everything. He kept me informed as needed, I asked to be removed from the dealings. He told me what would be done and did it. He DID NOT misinform me about anything. He was totally my Attorney, understanding, reasonable. knowledgeable . I was dealing with a sick parent with no time or patience to deal with an unreasonable situation, Mr. Schutz took it all in stride and handled everything accordingly. I can't begin to tell you how much I respect his professionalism, and client respect. He might refer me on but any legal problems that might come my way I will always call him first. I will always have his card, and he will always be recommended by me as the best Attorney around.

I needed consulting on a civil appeals after my previous attorney flaked on me. Yelena came through and treated me first class. She returned every email and call and walked me through every step explaining it so simple and to the point I felt like I went through law school prior to meeting her. She's very smart and has a good heart. I would recommend her to everyone who needs help with the law.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does an immigration attorney do?

Immigration lawyers help their clients through all phases of the immigration process. Experts on immigration law, they are legally qualified to represent U.S. citizens, permanent residents or undocumented immigrants. Immigration lawyers also provide assistance to visitors here on student, work or travel visas, and can represent clients who may have an expired visa or who have overstayed their visa.

You can hire an immigration lawyer to assist you with petitioning for renewing a permanent resident or green card, navigating the naturalization process, submitting an employee-based petition for a work visa, filing a petition for a family member, or representing you or a loved one who is facing detention or deportation, as well as replacing, extending or changing a current visa, green card or work permit. The immigration process is highly complex, with multiple hearings, paperwork and requirements. Hiring a legal expert to represent you can help you make your best effort in the process. When researching immigration lawyers, it is very important to verify their qualifications and find a reputable attorney. Read reviews and verify that the immigration lawyer is licensed by your state before paying any fees.

How do you find a good real estate lawyer?

If buying or selling property feels overwhelming and the thought of finding a good real estate lawyer seems daunting, you’re in luck. There are some simple steps to follow for finding a trustworthy, affordable real estate lawyer to help with your property and legal needs.

  • Determine what kind of real estate lawyer you need. Many states require a real estate attorney to handle sale closing documents. For more complex matters such as a real estate deal gone awry or foreclosure, you’ll want to find an attorney who has successfully handled cases like yours.
  • Look for online reviews of real estate lawyers in your area. Verify that they have proven experience closing or winning cases like yours and that they are in good standing with the state bar association.
  • Choose two or three lawyers to interview. Many offer a free consultation to learn about your case and provide information about rates. For standard real estate closing services, in-depth interviewing might not be necessary.
  • Ask about their rates and whether they charge by the hour or provide services for a flat fee. Ask whether a retainer is required, and what the total bill should be for a case like yours.
  • Ask for a write-up of the services that will be covered by the projected costs.
  • Make sure you like the real estate agent and they treat you with respect. Confirm whether they or another person will be working on your case and make sure you’re comfortable with all members of their team.
  • Pay the retainer and hire your lawyer.

What is a personal injury lawyer?

A personal injury lawyer fights on your behalf if you’ve been injured physically, psychologically, economically or in reputation. This injury may be the result of neglect or malicious intent of another person, or it could be at the hands of a business, government or other entity. Personal injury lawyers specialize in tort law, which is the law of civil wrongs like car accidents, company wrongdoing, unlawful imprisonment and more.

To become qualified to be a personal injury lawyer in the United States, a person must earn a bachelor’s degree, followed by a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from a law school. Most states then require the person to pass the bar exam to become licensed to practice law. Unlike many attorneys who require a retainer, personal injury lawyers often work on contingency fees. This means that in lieu of payment upfront, they receive an agreed-upon percentage of the settlement in case of a win.

What does a real estate lawyer do?

A real estate lawyer represents their client’s best interest in all matters related to the sale, purchase and ownership of real estate. They are experts in real estate law. In states that require a real estate lawyer to close home sales, the lawyer must review and finalize all documents before the deal can be legally completed. Real estate lawyers also help clients legally protect their rights when entering, exiting or renegotiating a real estate deal. You can hire a real estate lawyer as an individual or as a business. A real estate lawyer can help with negotiation, addressing mortgage fraud, managing foreclosures and bankruptcy, transfers of titles and deeds, property ownership disputes, zoning issues, creating a co-ownership contract for joint purchase of a property, and much more. Real estate lawyers can also protect you from issues that result when a known problem was not properly disclosed by the previous owner. Overall, real estate lawyers are an added cost when it comes to buying and selling property, but they also ensure your best interests are met, and that you and the people you are doing business with comply with the law.

What kind of lawyer does wills?

No one likes talking about death, but it’s better than leaving your children or siblings to sort out your estate. A clearly planned will can make the time of mourning easier for everyone. An estate attorney will develop a legal will, create trusts on your behalf, and ensure the proper execution of your estate after you pass away.

Family attorneys and estate attorneys, also called probate and wills attorneys, can each prepare wills. The type of lawyer best suited to prepare your will depends on your situation. Most family attorneys provide services to prepare basic wills, including bequeathing property and personal items to family or naming a guardian for minor children. However, estate attorneys specialize in preparing wills in more complex situations. Consider hiring an estate attorney if you:

  • Have a large number of assets, especially those subject to estate taxes
  • Want to create a trust, such as allowing a spouse to live in your home until he or she dies and then leaving it to your children, or set up long-term care for a beneficiary
  • Have an ownership stake in a business
  • Expect someone to contest your will
  • Want to disinherit your spouse
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
