Very pleased with the service...we brought our elder dying dog home from the hospital to allow him pass in a familiar place surrounded with love. The next few weeks were challenging, he vomited, and "went" all over the apartment, he no longer had strength to go out for walks nor control of his bowels 😞 After he passed, the smell & stains on the carpet were overwhelming and cleaning such ourselves was a failure...Found GK Carpet Cleaners thru Thumbtack. The carpet looks brand new & home is fresh & clean again! Very grateful to George for his astonishing service and to Thumbtack for the referral...

after moving out all the furniture in preparation for our previously scheduled carpet cleaners, they arrived with broken equipment and an attitude and told us they would come back next tuesday, leaving us in chaos until then i did a fast search and found mike who came over that afternoon to work on our VERY carpets. he was like our savior he was friendly, knowledgeable and thorough. needless to say, we were grateful! best of all, he's a one man band, not a large corporation that pays it's workers lint and pockets the difference. he answers the phone, discusses your needs, comes over and does the job himself. no middleman. you have to get behind that! he does other things as well. we will certainly call him when we are ready to power wash the house

I have to yell it from the rooftop again how happy I am with Seagull Cleaning Services! Am a Surgeon and have a busy schedule. Originally a friend told me to try them because they have been cleaning the new house they bought after she got married. I loved my first cleaning and STILL the love is going strong! I don't really understand how some people don't value quality cleaning and come up with various complaints about pricing. There are cheap cleaners out there but this company all you get is value for your money. I even gave an extra tip for job well done and if I had more would definitely give out. Wish I could make a video on this platform to show the before and after cleaning done. Kazeem was very punctual, affectionate, efficient, friendly and paid 100% attention to details. He made my kitchen top classy and shiny, i could see my shadows without putting my glasses on.What else could i deserve more? My friend was absolutely right and am sending her a gift for this referral. I am telling u try them you will be happy you did!You can never go wrong with Seagull Cleaning Services.

Green choice carpet cleaners did an amazing job on my white couch. The couch looks brand new after a deep conditioning and steam cleaning. They also did it in less than an hour and showed up right on time. Overall very happy with their work, and will definitely use it again.

Phil has the right equipment, the knowledge, and the brawn to do the job the right way. I tried the "do it yourself" carpet cleaners which had little effect compared to the machinery and solvents Phil has. Money well spent for me with a surprisingly good outcome.

Always Great Service doesn't say enough! They are very thorough and easy to work with. They put the customer first, which isn't the case with another companies we used who seemed to be more interested in getting it done fast. We have found our carpet/tile cleaning company and we recommend Always Great Service to anybody else who needs work done.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Who cleans area rugs?

Like your carpets, area rugs should ideally be cleaned at least once a year to remove dust and dirt and help them last longer. In general, carpet cleaning professionals also clean area rugs. Some rug cleaners bring their cleaning equipment to your home, while others remove your area rugs and clean them at their facilities. Either way, the rug should be cleaned with the solution most appropriate to its specific fabric and construction. It should also be completely dry before you return it to the floor.

How often should carpets be steam cleaned?

Dirty carpets can be unhealthy for the people living in the home, particularly those who have allergies, so it’s important to have them cleaned regularly; simply vacuuming once or twice a week isn’t enough. Carpet cleaning should be done by a professional carpet cleaning service at least once a year to remove grime and help extend the life of your carpet. Most carpet manufacturers recommend professional steam cleaning, which penetrates deep into the carpet fibers and lifts out both dirt and the pollutants that get tracked inside. Steam cleaning also removes most of the moisture, so carpets dry quickly enough for homeowners to resume using them the same day. Between professional carpet cleanings, your carpet may need an emergency spot cleaning. Pet accidents, food or drink spills, and more can often be effectively cleaned with some water and a drop of white vinegar, although many cleaners will also make house calls for smaller spills and hard-to-clean spots like wine or grease stains.

How much does it cost to clean a rug?

Area rugs are typically found in high-traffic areas of the home, like hallways and entryways, so they collect more dirt and stains than simple vacuuming can handle. Similar to carpet cleaning, professionals can come to your home to deep-clean your area rugs. The national average cost for rug cleaning ranges from $80 to $120, but may be higher or lower depending on the rug’s size and fiber type. Rug cleaners generally charge by the square foot; for example, a standard 8-foot by 10-foot rug costs an average of $100 to clean. Natural fiber rugs, such as wool or silk, are usually more expensive to have cleaned than synthetic rugs. A carpeting cleaning company may charge on average $1.50 per square foot to clean a synthetic rug, $2 per square foot for a wool rug, and $3 per square foot for a silk rug. Some delicate rugs need to be washed by hand, which increases the price. Carpet cleaning companies often offer additional services, such as removing odors or applying moth deterrent, which can add 20 cents to 25 cents per square foot.

How much does it cost to carpet a bedroom?

If you’re building a new home, remodeling, or ready for new carpet in your bedroom, you’ll want to know carpet installation costs. Here are the factors that affect the cost of your new bedroom carpet:

  • Installation cost per square yard: From under $2 to over $6. Carpet companies have a labor cost per square foot for installing your new carpet. Depending on where you live in the country, that rate can vary greatly. This rate does not include the cost of the carpet.
  • Type of carpet: from $1 per square foot to $20 or more per square foot. The fibers that make up your carpet will have a direct effect on cost. As an example, specialty wool carpets may start at about $10 per square foot, while a manufactured fiber like nylon may be about $2 per square foot.
  • Removal of old carpet: from $1 to $4 per square yard. Old carpet is labor-intensive to remove and also costs money to dispose of or recycle. The cost to remove carpet will depend on how much carpet you need removed and whether your installation pros offer a discounted rate for installing your new carpet at the same time.
  • Subfloor repair: from $40 to $70 per hour (plus materials cost). If the flooring underneath your old carpet is damaged, it must be repaired before the new carpet is installed. Many carpet pros can offer this service, or you can hire a handyman to handle the job.
  • Type of carpet pad: $1 per square yard and up, depending on the thickness. The cost to install carpet pad is typically included with the labor cost per yard of installing the carpet itself.

How much is the cheapest carpet?

If you’re looking to reduce carpet installation costs, there are several ways to save. Start by considering your carpeting needs. Manufactured materials such as polyester and nylon will be cheaper than natural fibers such as wool. From big box retailers, starting prices for olefin-based carpet are approximately 50 cents per square foot — making the cost under $5 per square yard. Indoor carpets made with olefin fibers are typically the least expensive on the market. Keep in mind that olefin fibers are not as soft on bare feet as other fibers, so are often used in areas like basements, playrooms or indoor patios. Nylon and polyester are good options to reduce carpet installation costs while still creating a cozy feel. The face weight, fiber construction and density of a carpet all affect the cost per square foot. The cheapest nylon or polyester carpets can start at just under $2 per square foot, making them about $18 per square yard. Lower-cost carpet tends to wear out more quickly and show stains more easily, so avoid light colors and vacuum regularly to keep the fibers clear of dirt that might age it too quickly.
