I enlisted the help of Arbor Tutors to help me with test prep for grad school. Oh man! I am SUPER happy I did that. The tutoring manager walked me through the whole process and set me up with TWO tutors. They also said I could change tutors at any time, but I didn't need to. I was accepted into all of my top choices (Columbia, Penn, Cornell and Duke). I used the application services also (they reviewed my essays).

Math Allergy + World’s Best Tutor - Time = 760 score + Top 5 MBA acceptance! Dan is the reason I’m heading to my dream school without a doubt. I can’t imagine scoring over 750 without his help. I wasted an entire year spinning my wheels with 3 different test prep companies and feeling like a lost cause before finding Dan- and not to mention consistently scoring under 600 despite embarrassing amounts of effort. Less than 6 months of working with Dan boosted my raw quant score by a full 10 points and it kept on climbing. Dan is patient, encouraging and a complete genius. Most importantly, Dan gave me both the confidence and battle tested approaches to hit a score that I would have laughed off a few months earlier. It still boggles my mind that a 200 point increase is even possible, but Dan made it happen. I don't normally write online reviews, but I can't stop sharing the secret weapon to making your dream school acceptances roll in aka working with Dan and never looking back. You’re welcome :)

Jeremy is an excellent teacher and can help you improve in any subject! He is fantastic with test prep such as the Algebra Regents where I scored over a 90 and with final exams. He also helped me with all of my study skills which has made a big difference with my time management. He simplifies everything, makes our lessons fun, and creates a plan for each week. I highly recommend using Jeremy to help you with all areas of your academic and test prep work!

Kamil is a fantastic tutor. We hired him for ACT math prep. We will know for sure in a few weeks, but based on her practice test scores she has gained a lot of points since her last ACT. We would definitely recommend him to anyone. He has a really nice manner and my daughter felt very comfortable working with him.

I have only the highest praise for Jim DelGenio, in every possible way. We have had a longtime tutor working with my son, but test prep is not her specialty. We were referred to Jim through an acquaintance, and I’m so grateful that we had him in our corner. Simply put, Jim is a fabulous tutor. He very quickly assessed Conor’s working and learning style, and adapted his sessions accordingly. He spent quite some time chatting with us at the beginning of our time together, to understand our goals and work toward them. Our experience with Jim felt the total opposite of a “package”, but rather a customized strategy based on Conor’s strengths/weaknesses and our goals. Jim has a broad range of knowledge of not only the testing process, but also navigating the waters of college applications. He was a wealth of information that informed much of how we proceeded with the various schools Conor was considering. Jim gave “homework” that was apropos to the subject matter they were covering, but was mindful about weeks where Conor’s schoolwork was overwhelming – we all appreciated that! And personally, Jim was a pleasure to work with. Always on time. Always responsive to e-mails and phone calls. And an all around nice guy too! But the best “testimony” I could give is from Conor himself. I asked him if he attributed his great success in his SAT scores to his work with Jim. His reply? “Absolutely.”

I could not say enough good things about Dr. Fikar. He is the reason, for the first time in my entire life, I did well on a standardized test. I had used other large test prep companies to prep for the GMAT and none of them could help me beat a 650 until. Dr. Fikar's knowledge of the test and study materials are unparalleled. I could not highly recommend someone more. Thank you for everything Dr. Fikar!

Ethan was a key factor in helping me achieve a 35 on the ACT. His guidance is impeccable, acting in the best interest of the student; when I struggled to improve my SAT score, he made the decisive choice to change our preparation path to toward the ACT. The change was essential to achieving the high score that I wanted. Although I was never a humanities-oriented person, he also helped to improve my human skills which in turn boosted my scores. My reading and English scores skyrocketed after he helped me these more abstract sections with logic and reasoning. I recommend Ethan to anyone who is looking to improve their scores; his knowledge and poise are unmatched.

I chose Crimson Scholars for my daughter's pre-calculus tutor because they were very responsive to my request, was flexible with our needs, and went above and beyond to communicate with me. She had her first session with Frank and said she learned more in an hour than what she has all year. We are skyping and using an app for her tutoring. Homework and old tests to review are scanned to assist with content direction.

I am in the military, I work full time, and I travel a ton. I started using Target Test Prep after I had already gone through a popular in person 6-week course with another company and could not get above a 610 on the GMAT. A friend urged me to try Target Test Prep. Initially I was reluctant because I am not a big fan of computer based learning. Target Test Prep quickly changed my perspective on what can be gained through a computer based medium, and especially what can be accomplished online with the incredible tutor Target Test Prep has. I started Target Test Prep (TTP) on September 30th 2016 and started working with Jeff (the Tutor from TTP) a few weeks after that. By November 12th 2016 I scored a 650. This is when I started to get serious with TTP. Based on that improvement, Jeff encouraged me to have faith in the platform, follow the curriculum, and work with him. I took his advice and alongside the curriculum, I met with Jeff (on average) once a week until the end of December and scored a 710 on December 29th 2016. I know that if I continued to work with Jeff and use TTP, my score would likely go even higher, but a 710 was good enough for me and met the balance I needed between a good score and time invested. I am very grateful to Jeff and Scott for their excellent curriculum, and I am especially thankful to Jeff for the advising, encouragement, and incredible insight he provided me, and for the excellent instruction on how to solve GMAT problems efficiently and consistently. I would recommend TTP to friends, as I have already. A good friend of mine just bought TTP based on my recommendation and has started working with Jeff. A couple of our mutual friends are considering doing the same after seeing the success I had, as well as the momentum my friend is gaining already. If you are stuck on the GMAT or don't know where to start, this is the program for you! Thank you TTP for helping me put a swift end to this painful GMAT process!

Apex Test Prep was well worth the investment for my GMAT studies. Mike helped me raise my score from 630 to 700 in 6 weeks. I had been trying to breakthrough on the quant section for two years with no success. Mike's deep understanding of how the test is constructed helped me to see it in a way that allowed me to perform significantly better on the test. He is a GMAT wizard, I would highly recommend!

Eve was an outstanding tutor for the ISEE. We hired her with just 6 weeks to go until the test - we had been using a New Haven-based tutoring company that just was not doing the job - in that very short period of time Eve managed to coach our daughter from the middle of the pack (ISEE steniles 4 and 5) toward the top (stiles 6 and 7). Plus she was very flexible about scheduling and was amenable to meeting our daughter in New Haven. We only wish we'd enlisted her sooner! We will definitely seek her assistance for our next set of test preps!

Before I first started working with John, everything I knew about the LSAT had come from taking one practice test several months earlier. I had done absolutely no preparation for this practice test, and I think I had scored somewhere around the mid-150s. John quickly familiarized me with basics of the test, and soon I was scoring in the low to mid 160s-range. My best section quickly became the Logic Games, thanks to John’s efficient teaching of it. However, what stumped me over and over again was dealing with uncertainty in the Logical Reasoning and Reading Comprehension sections, with picking the best answer out of an entire set of mediocre answers and with questions that didn’t seem to fit into neat patterns that the majority of LSAT questions and answers fell into.   Luckily, I had found a fantastic tutor to help me. John was always extremely patient and meticulous. He made sure to give me thorough explanations for questions that I had difficulty fully comprehending to make sure I had a complete understanding of why the right answer was correct. He did not give up even when I would say, “Uh…ok” to his initial explanation when he heard the hesitation in my voice. John gave me weekly assignments specifically tailored to my progress. He worked very hard to mold my brain to be the best LSAT-conquering brain that it could be. He even requested that I email him my Word document of LSAT notes every time I updated it. At the same time, he was not at all a grim and harsh tutor, and freely gave me encouragement whenever I expressed my fears that I was just not smart enough to score as high as I wanted to on the LSAT. John was always flexible and understanding about my schedule–I first studied for the LSATs while juggling a summer internship and conducting interviews for a senior thesis, then again during my winter break and then during the first few weeks of my senior spring semester. John never demanded that I work around his schedule. He even travelled to China during the summer, but made sure to make time for our lessons that took place effectively over video chat.     Alas, I improved but did not score as well as I wanted to the first time I took the LSAT. The second time around, along with my usual weekly assignments and lessons, John instructed me to start making flashcards of all my wrong answers from practice exams and to use the Leitner flash card review technique to study my cards. (This technique involves: (i) separating flash cards into 4 boxes, with each card getting promoted to the next box when the correct answer is given or moving the card back to Box 1 when an incorrect answer is given, and (ii) using a schedule of which boxes should be studied on which day of the week.) During lessons, John and I would fill out new flash cards. John made sure that I not only wrote down why the right answer was right and my wrong answer was wrong, but also precisely what to look out for with these questions and answers, so that I would not miss these traits or clues the next time I encountered them in other questions. I am almost certain this technique was one of the main reasons I scored a 171 the second time I took the LSAT. Before I used the Leitner system, I did not review my old answers nearly as much as I should have, certainly not every day. With the Leitner system, I was forced to constantly keep reviewing concepts that I had missed previously so that I would not do so again, which helped me stay on top of my personal challenges. Toward the last couple of weeks before the second time that I would take the LSAT, I consistently scored 170 or more on practice exams.   It was also helpful that John and I got along very well on a personal level. He was considerate and polite but also witty and funny–I was very lucky that our senses of humor meshed so well. ‎It was a huge bonus that even our tastes in sci-fi and fantasy were highly compatible as well. I owe my 171 score to John. He is a patient, precise, professional, perceptive, and entertaining tutor who knows the LSAT inside and out and wants to make sure that all his students do as well. Anyone hoping to defeat the LSATs would be lucky to have him as their tutor.

Samantha has been an excellent ACT tutor for me. While most tutors simply teach you a standard curriculum and simply reveal answers to wrong questions, she makes sure that what you learn is understood properly and can be practically used, and really goes in depth in going through your mistakes. This ensures that you don't repeat the same mistakes for similar questions in the future.

Thomas was one of the best tutors I have ever had. After trying a few other SAT tutors, I decided to stick with him. Thomas found different ways to help me understand specific topics and worked with me when I needed extra help. He's constantly researching new tutroing methods and implements them into his sessions. With his help, I was able to increase my SAT score by around 200 points. My parents even signed my sister up for tutoring with Thomas because they saw what an amazing tutor he was. After my SAT process was done, Thomas walked me through the college process and helped me with my essays. Because of him, I am going to college with a full scholarship and I will graduate debt free. Thomas is an amazing tutor and an amazing person. He builds connections with his students and their families that extend outside of the academic sphere. I could not be more grateful to Thomas for all that he has done for me and my family.
