About

As an Instructor, my goal of each student to maximize the benefits of music over the course of their lives. I am selective in who I teach because each new student and their family ideally represent a long term relationship. My degree is in jazz piano with a classical minor and I also perform and teach North Indian classical music (see suromurchhana.org). I enjoy teaching students the music that motivates them the most while developing a complete skill set along the way. Students can also enroll in graduated exams with the Royal Conservatory of Music.

Learning to play anything for the first time can be intimidating, let alone selecting the right school. After perusing many other institutions, I chose VMS to be the key player in my piano endeavor. They appreciated the various styles of music that appealed to me and have been incorporating them in my lessons, which I'm so excited about! But what's most instrumental is how comfortable the environment is- for progress and fun! I couldn't be happier with my decision!

VMS has a friendly atmosphere, and great teachers. My son is 12. He is taking piano lessons and band lessons. He plays classical and modern pieces. He is in two rock bands where he plays the keyboard and he sings. The music school's program keeps him motivated to thrive better.
