I really love their project intake form. I have worked with graphic designers in the past who were unable to produce what I was looking for, but they never asked the right questions. I think SPARK asks all the right questions and it shows they care about the finished product and happy customers. The process was really professional and the results have been incredible. This is one of the rare occasions I would give a 6 star review if I could.

I highly recommend these guys. Wilton was very responsive when I reported the problem with my Dell all in one desktop computer. He recommended the hard drive to buy to replace the one that crashed. He had Angel come to my apartment on the day and time I requested. Angel was very knowledgeable and patient. He not only installed the new hard drive, got my computer all set up and running again, but when an unrelated problem with my Internet connection happened, he waited in my apartment for about an hour while I was on hold with Verizon to make sure I got that resolved. I couldn't be more pleased with their service and how quickly they got my computer working again!

I came to Thumbtack looking for a graphic designer to help create a logo for my son's Bar Mitzvah. David and I spoke briefly to describe what I had in mind. He was very patient, pleasant and easy to talk to. He provided me with a draft very quickly and when my son requested some tweaking, we received revisions in a very timely manner. Our logo is high quality and, according to my son, "very cool." It was a pleasure to work with David. I highly recommend him.

Our relationship started with a simple phone call that was professionally answered, a prompt appointment set up and finally a team being assigned to my project that couldn't be better and more professional. Every aspect of SYNERGY is of the highest professional standards and my organization couldn't be happier with our web development PARTNER. They have and are handling most aspects of my website...from the initial graphic design, to the entire website development, to the video production and finally to the marketing. They do it all and they do it all very well. I could go on forever but just trust me when I say that if you're looking for a website development partner look no further than SYNERGY. You will not regret it.

Hello! For over 6 years Kenson Clarke has been the sole web and graphic designer for my company, Vaughn Jereaux. In addition to Kenson’s phenomenal talent, he is hardworking, reliable and always provides exceptional service above and beyond the call of duty. What I find most rewarding about Kenson’s work ethic is his ability to transform a simple idea into an extraordinary reality. Anyone who has Kenson on his or her team will benefit tremendously! Noelia was fabulous! She was professional, reliable and very patient with our newborn and toddler twins. We did fresh 48 and newborn session with her. She made us feel very comfortable during the sesion and the way she handled my newborn baby was amazing. The pictures turned out stunning. She guided us thru the printing process and we got the most amazing art work for our house. Highly recommended.

It is rare when you find someone who truly gets who you are, and can then express it for you through graphic design. His eye is impeccable and his level of taste is unmatched. I had the pleasure of collaborating with Bruce extensively while we created and shipped 3 release versions of an iOS game and a related Sticker Pack for iPhone and iPad on Apple's App Store over a period spanning more than two years. We needed to create a visually rich environment that would render well across all iOS device form factors and we turned to Bruce to help achieve our goals. Before bringing Bruce onboard we had the technical skills and game design concepts. After, we had a team that could both conceptualize and realize our creative ideas. All of our collaboration during this time was done remotely, and working with Bruce in this type of virtual work environment went very smoothly. Bruce was responsible for creating an extensive inventory of high-quality illustrations and graphics, including designing and executing our App Icon and other critical branding assets. Bruce can take rough conceptual descriptions, outlines, or sketches of ideas and turn them into concrete, visually delightful, production-ready assets. Bruce contributed to the overall creative process of our product design, participated in regular production and design meetings, contributed to creative brain storming sessions, solution planning, usability, and general UI design requirements. Bruce brings a critical, analytical eye and creative perspective, which helps everyone improve and be more successful in efforts he contributes to. Bruce also participated in and led marketing and branding campaigns, notably including campaigns on popular social media platforms where he contributed the idea, the message, the design, and the assets. Bruce made a real difference in our ability to successfully visualize, design, create, execute, and ship our product. Studio Funhouse, specifically Rey Hauksson, has been my go-to outside graphic resource for well over 10 years. His work is terrific, inventive and functional always. His work in Photoshop is outstanding, and Illustrator, amazing. There is no graphic project I can throw at him that is too difficult. Delivery is always on time and the value is good. I cannot recommend this resource enough!

Vince Bondi is a gifted visual communicator. Again and again, his work for Walker Digital effectively translated sophisticated ideas and abstract data into powerful, eye-popping, easy-to-understand graphics. Over the years he has also contributed some of the most striking and appealing illustrations for a leading business magazine where I served as an editor. And, when I needed a home page photomontage for my personal website, Vince provided a beautiful piece of art that never fails to impress clients. From the Fortune 500 to the mom and pops, they always remark on it. Vince Bondi is also a man with a gift for friendship. People -- all sorts of people -- trust him instantly. Why? Because he's down to earth, empathetic, good humored, and straightforward. There are no hidden agendas with Vince Bondi, just a passionate desire to help. That, combined with a very large talent, make him one in a million.

Steve and Andrea at CIWEB have been nothing short of AMAZING to work with! They’re extremely knowledgeable and talented. They helped us redesign our company logo to look much crisper and clearer on printed marketing materials. They’re also experts in search engine optimization and web design. The improvements they made to our company’s web site have been OUTSTANDING! Most importantly, at least in my opinion though, is their unmatched customer service. I had a wonderful experience working with Nora. Not only is she extremely creative and highly efficient, but she was able to help me flesh out an idea I was struggling to communicate. After an initial consultation, Nora provided a draft and was quick to turnaround the tweaks I requested. I couldn't be happier with the final product. I would highly recommend Nora as your go-to Graphic Designer.

Chris is both creative and conscientious , a fantastic combination. He approached our project with an eye towards giving us what we asked for but also showing us possibilities that we did not see, all the while keeping our time frame and budget firmly in mind. I can not recommend him highly enough.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Why should you hire a web designer?

Your website is often the first thing your customers see when they’re searching for a business or service on the web. As the face of your organization, your website needs to be attractive and functional, offering the latest features that users now expect. To plan and design a site that both reflects your company’s mission and values and appeals to customers takes a professional web designer. While free online services can help people set up websites, web designers can provide a unique solution made specifically to meet customers’ personal or business needs.

Most web designers offer a wide variety of services to make your website aesthetically pleasing and easy to use. Modern web design must be mobile-friendly and scalable, capable of expanding to include a blog, social media sites, and even video streaming; web designers are experts at integrating various web technologies. They can build the site, add functionality, test it, launch it on a live server, and track and maintain its performance.

In addition to web design and graphic design, some web design providers also offer development and security services, including search engine optimization (SEO), social media marketing and management, logo design, site maintenance, domain registration and hosting, protection against malware, and digital marketing and content services.

What should you look for in a website designer?

A professional web designer creates the look and feel of your website, collaborating with you to choose colors, creating logos and other branding materials, establishing page layouts, and creating sample pages. An important part of web design is making sure the site is functional, meets your goals, and is easy for users to navigate. When you’re looking to hire a web designer, start by reviewing the person’s portfolio. Look for samples of work that match what you envision for your website, including experience building the types of pages or features you want. Make sure the web designer is familiar with your industry and understands both industry trends and web design trends — an old-fashioned or out-of-touch site will turn customers away rather than intrigue them.

Because web designers tend to work as freelancers on a project basis, they must be excellent communicators, willing to manage their own work, and available on your schedule. Some critical skills, such as working collaboratively and responding enthusiastically to feedback, aren’t core to good web design, but make working with a web designer much easier. Finally, look for a web designer who has cross-functional knowledge, such as understanding marketing and conversion rate optimization in addition to web design.

How much do web designers charge?

The average cost for hiring a web designer varies greatly depending on the scope of the work, which may range from building a site from scratch to rebranding an existing one, as well as the amount of content and graphics the designer will create. In general, the more complex the project, the more time the design agency will have to spend. Because web designers often work on an hourly basis, the longer the project, the higher the costs; you can count on the web designer spending at minimum 10 hours to create a very basic website with just a handful of pages with few elements. Prices also depend on the designer’s skill set, the process, and the company’s rates. In general, the national average cost for a basic website package starts at $500, but a customized website can cost as much as $2,000 or more. Here are typical average hourly rates, broken out by the complexity of the work:

    • Basic layout and user interface: $15-$40 per hour
    • Content management system design: $20-$50 per hour
    • Custom website design with custom code: $45-$75 per hour

How much does it cost to create a logo?

Logo design is an important part of your company’s brand development. More than an image with text and color, a logo communicates the tone and personality of your company to your potential customers. Hiring a graphic designer with an appealing portfolio and quality reviews is a solid start to creating a winning logo design. The cost to create a logo can depend on how in-depth the marketing and design services you request are. Designers can create one logo in multiple formats (horizontal, vertical, etc.) to fit both your website and social media platforms, they can create a variety of designs for clients to select from, or they can create multiple logos for one client who needs branding for more than one venture. Logos may be text-only, text and image, or image-only. Many designers and design firms charge by the hour for their services, while other companies offer packages bundled with design services. Here are some examples of cost:

    • National average cost to hire a logo designer: $170-$250.
    • Average hourly rate for a freelance marketing consultant: about $150.
    • Tiered pricing for logo design packages from one firm:
      • Package One: $200 for three logo concepts, three rounds of revision, and a variety of format and color end designs.
      • Package Two: $350 for 10 logo concepts, unlimited rounds of revision, and a variety of format and color end designs.
      • Package Three: $550 for everything included in the Package Two, plus business card design, letterhead design, social media graphics and an email signature.
      • Package Four: $850 for everything in the Package Three, plus custom brand guidelines, which outline a strategy for creating a consistent branding in the client’s business.

How do you hire a web designer?

You’ve determined that the best way to create a professional, modern, mobile-friendly new website is to hire a professional web designer to build it. To hire the best person for the job — and to get the web design that best fits your company’s identity — it’s important to ask a few key questions:

    • What’s the scope of the work? Will the website be basic with just a few pages about your company, its services, and contact information? Or will it also have an e-commerce section for online shopping, a blog, or content for visitors to download? Before you hire a web designer, make sure you have a thorough, specific list of the components you must have the designer include in the web design.
    • What do you want your website to look like? Consider websites that are similar to the one you’d like to build, ideally in the same industry or serving similar types of customers. Build a set of examples of types of pages, design aspects, and website features that you can hand off to the web designer — the person you hire should have experience creating websites with the features you want. If they don’t have the right skill set, they’re not the right pro for you.
    • What’s the web designer’s start-to-finish process? What will the final deliverable be? Before you hire someone, make sure their availability works with your timeline and that their process meets your expectations. Most important is finding a web designer who will work collaboratively with you to create a successful online presence.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
