I've been learning from Dom for a bit shy of two months now and have been loving every minute of it. While I'm a neophyte on guitar, my mother is a music teacher (guitar/piano/voice) and I grew up with vocal coaching at various levels, so I have experience with a variety of music training. I found Dom to be incredibly responsive; as other reviewers have touched on, he starts from the very beginning with vital information that I merely glossed over when self-teaching other instruments, but he will quickly amp up the pace of your lessons to your speed of learning. At this point, I leave each lesson feeling challenged, but I come into the next week with enough understanding to grow and meet the next batch. I'm also taking bass lessons with him once a month, and the sessions dovetail nicely into each other. He has a wealth of music history and experience at his disposal and you would do well to take advantage of that. Also, he has two of the sweetest cats I've come across in a while, so there's that.
Phenomenal musician, great teacher, cool cat - I rate David First INFINITY STARS. I've studied music here and there, but it wasn't until I started taking bass lessons with David a few years ago that it all came together for me. He explains music theory in a way I can understand and translate to actual practice that is not a chore, it is fun and addictive! Besides developing technical skill, Dave also helped me grow as a musician by getting over feeling awkward jamming with other people. I eventually felt comfortable enough to audition for bands and ended up in a fun one, playing out in the city even! David was there for my first gig, too. My husband was so impressed with my progress, he started guitar lessons last year and has come so far, it is amazing. We feel like Grasshoppers to David's Master Po. He is the best, ok I'll stop now, you get it.
I took piano lessons as a teenager about 60 years ago. Over the years, my keyboard abilities have diminished significantly. Gary came up with a plan that will change my playing style and enable me to enjoy playing again. Gary is very easy to work with. The first lesson energized me and I look forward to working with Gary.
Michelle is great with kids. Our 7-year old daughter loves her piano lessons and always looks forward to them. More important, we can hear that she is really learning and making great progress. Two of her school friends have started lessons with Michelle after we recommended her.
Christopher was awesome! I did weekly private guitar lessons with him over Google Hangouts, and felt like I really learned a lot. You can tell he really cares about his students and puts a lot of extra effort into making sure you're getting the most out of your lessons.
Jimi is the best! I took bass lessons from him for years- extremely knowledgeable and patient, an excellent teacher!
Guitar lessons can be boring, but not with Steve. Steve's guitar playing its Eddie Van Halen's level and best of all is that he is very humble and a funny teacher. He will take his time to explain you note by note on the entire fretboard. I always have fun learning new scales, arpeggios, triads etc. with Steve. You will actually get exited every time a guitar lesson with him is coming up. A guitar instructor that actually knows how to play pretty much anything on guitar, but if you are into Rock, Classic Rock, Hard Rock, Metal, Jazz and Jazz Fusion, you should definitely take guitar lessons with Steve. - Winston Beast Master (Khiazma band)
Sean is a wonderful teacher and a great guy. I would highly recommend him to anyone seeking music lessons.
My 10-year-old son started taking bass lessons from Wayne three months ago. I couldn't be happier with the progress he has made. Wayne has stressed how to properly squeeze each note, hold his fret hand and sit with correct posture. In addition, my son is now reading basic sheet music. He also knows the names of most of the notes on his fretboard. Wayne always provides music lessons that he writes out personally and also provides associated MP3 audio files. My son is able to practice the lesson along with an audio track that serves as reinforcement. Wayne even transcribed a song that could be played with the actual music track. Wayne has an encouraging and positive attitude. There is a genuine excitement and passion in his teaching. I highly recommend.
I've been taking guitar lessons with Chris for a few months now, and I can hear a clear difference in my playing. He is a great teacher, very patient and encouraging. As a fellow music teacher myself, I can say that his level of musicianship is very impressive. Chris is also very flexible with his scheduling, which is very helpful. I highly recommend him to everyone out there.
His teaching is excellent , everything is broken down to my understanding and he is a friendly person. Literally love playing the guitar, Kevin is very comical and I enjoy the guitar lessons!
I have taken piano lessons from Robert for a few weeks now and my ability to read sheet music while I play, as well as understand music theory (big areas of weakness for me) have already improved significantly. He is a great instructor who understands what you need in order to become a better player, and he creates a fun and relaxed atmosphere that makes me look forward to my lesson each week. I would highly recommend Robert as a piano instructor!
I found the search for classical guitar instruction rather daunting until I discovered the website of James Lorusso (jameslorusso.com). My initial contact from several other entities and individuals proved far too commercially driven for my taste. I was interested in taking formal lessons and learning how to read music not just learning from tablature or playing by ear which I had done for over fifty years. A few hours following my e-mail inquiry I was surprised and gratified to receive a personal call from Mr. Lorusso and was in his studio the very next day. I was immediately impressed with this gentleman. His warmth and finely honed pedagogic approach were so apparent it was only a matter of minutes into that introductory lesson I became convinced I had found the quintessential teacher a true pedagogue and a man of such talent and encyclopedic musical knowledge I was drawn to him like a magnet. Seldom in life does one come across a resource as substantial and charismatic as this gentleman look no further, you have just found a genius who's also as warm as the day is long! My name is Tom I'm 67 years of age and feel like a kid when I'm in Jims studio. In three months he has given me gifts of learning and brought me to places I thought were unachievable. He will do the same for you!
I have been taking Bass Guitar and Drum lessons from Steve for over a year. Steve exhibits the utmost in professionalism and take the time to make sure I've mastered the task at hand before we move on to the next lesson. I would highly recommend Steve to any aspiring musician. Joe B
We've been using John for guitar lessons for our son since he was 10. He's 14 year's old now and John has had a huge impact on his love for this instrument. John keeps his students engaged by allowing them to learn through the music genre that they enjoy. He keeps his lessons fun and light and really connects with his students.
Michael is a terrific teacher! He is everything a student of music could ask for in an instructor. I am a busy professional who decided randomly to start learning bass guitar and Michael has been a blast to learn from. First, he is very professional: he is punctual, responsive and very flexible when accommodating my very busy work schedule. He takes the lessons seriously: while we have a lot of fun, he is focused on making sure I am getting as much as I can out of each lesson. No time is wasted. Second, Michael has a great teaching method: we learn while having fun. I know so many other students of music who dread meeting with their teachers (they want to learn but hate the process). Michael makes the sometimes challenging process of learning a new instrument actually enjoyable. This may seem obvious to some but it's worth repeating: if you enjoy something, you'll want to do it more and get better at it. Michael brings that kind of energy to our lessons. Finally, Michael's rates are very reasonable especially considering how much I learn during each lesson. Anyone interested in learning an instrument should absolutely consider learning from Michael Karsh. You will not be disappointed.
The best Hebrew teacher I know !!! Dan‘s lessons are so much fun and before you notice you’ll be able to speak with your Israeli friends without any problem.
My son and daughter have been taking lessons at the Piano Workshop of Chester with Sonia for the past few years and they continue to make great progress!
Steve can play & teach absolutely every genre of music on the bass, answer any question, demonstrate anything that you want to know and sightread difficult charts in seconds. He's the consummate bass player/instructor. The real deal!
WHAT A TERRIFIC TEACHER. Sometimes, educators who have been teaching for a while forget what it's like to be the "learner" and can in turn be condescending, impatient, and unwilling to simplify difficult concepts for their students. JOE, on the other hand, was PROFESSIONAL, PATIENT, and PLEASANT. When explaining certain musical concepts to me, he explained it in my language. He encouraged me to ask as many questions as i could come up with; no question was off limits. He tailored the music lesson to my skill set, and even provided study material for me to work with in between our one-on-one lessons. I am excited again about playing piano and learning how to read music!!!!
Jenny was easy to talk to and showed a high level of professionalism and experience in teaching me double bass.
