Jeremy has helped me extensively in both math and english. Not only has he helped me improve my grades but he has helped me get ahead of my classmates. Currently Jeremy is helping to prepare me for the ACT and I am prepping for an excellent score! Lastly, Jeremy makes himself available to help me at any time, including outside our sessions.
I took English lessons with Maura for 6 months. During the classes, we put the emphasis on conversation. We talked about a large number of topics : Politics, Society, day to day life... It gave me much more confidence in my relations with English speakers and, coming from a European country, it also helped me to understand better the American culture. Maura is open, friendly, she makes you feel at ease and she enjoys teaching ESL.
I like working with Lenore. English is my second language, and Lenore is teaching me how to properly pronounce words and sounds in order to reduce my accent. She is professional, patient, punctual, and I highly recommend her services.
Robert teaches Italian lessons. I am a terrible student frequently confusing my High School French with what Robert patiently teaches me. He is good humored, well prepared and pushes me along just enough. I am never frustrated but always encouraged. Robert always is smiling and I never feel silly with my pronunciation. Robert really is a great teacher. I wish I had met him years ago before my first trip to Italy. I look forward to my lessons all week. Bravo Robert!!!!
He was my SAT English teacher at A+ Academy. He gave a lot of advices for the test and was always prepared for the lessons. After each new lesson, he would always review the lessons before at the beginning of class. Because of this, I was able to memorize all the necessary grammar rules to help me do better on the verbal section. Overall, he was a great tutor.
I learn English from Connor. He proves what a professional great bilingual teacher should be and opens my eyes to the American culture. I have a full time job, he always tries his best to get our class arranged. By using various appropriate methods: reading, dialogue, writing, discussion, he makes my learning interesting and helpful. I got admitted to Columbia University thanks to his help and encouragement. He inspires me to love learning, explore new fields as well.
I like my ESL lessons with Marion. She taught me not only the language but also the American culture, which I'm very interested in. Besides that, she is such a nice person that talking with her is always enjoyable.
Akiha has been very supportive in her Japanese lessons. She has a very flexible schedule and is very willing to work with you and match her lessons with your personal style of learning. She is very patient and strives to meet the students' needs during each lesson. Because of her help I have been rapidly progressing towards my goal of becoming fluent. I think that she is a very suitable tutor for any level!
Michael is a very experienced teacher. We are developing a study plan for my teenage Chinese stepdaughter to master the English language. He spends hours preparing material for sessions with students that he tutors. He is patient and he understands the needs of non-English speaking Asian immigrants. He is truly a gentleman and shows great respect when he communicates with others, no matter what their age, race or nationality. Thank you, Michael, for all that you do.
My daughter (7yrs old) had her first lesson with Chiaki. She had fun and is looking forward to her next lesson. Chiaki is definitely great with kids.
They helped me succeed on the TOEFL test. They also helped my skills with business English. I am thankful to them and recommend them.
Best thing for my child. The lessons were fun and engaging. Highly recommend.
Mrs. Schoenwald was my 10th and 11th Grade english teacher at a special needs High School. Mrs. Schoenwald's instruction was always clear and concise; when focus was lost Marna was able to easily redirect the class back to the lesson. With Marna's guidance and teaching style our class was able to excel and enjoy learning even when what was being taught (book being read or essay) was not interesting or engaging.
Ann was a wonderful tutor; she prepared me and guided me to take the best path for my TOELF test. I appreciated the simplicity she used in her explanations. Great advice, individual approach and positive attitude. Always on time, ready to help, intelligent and kind. She was patient and very efficient in her teaching methods. She was really encouraging. I highly recommend her Thank you, Ann!
He is very professional. Love the techniques he uses to teach; he mainly teaches 12 year old's so his technique simplifies whatever you learning for any age. Also very punctual.
I teach at the student's level. I try to make the lessons fun. We work with a textbook and also have free conversations.
I am a New York based English (ESOL) teacher and have been teaching English for over six years. I hold a BA degree in sociology and am TESOL certified. I have taught beginner, intermediate and advance English to adult students who are recent immigrants to the United States, in addition to international high school and university students who are on vacation in New York. The city offers a rich diversity of culture, sights, sounds and attractions, offering a wondrous environment to practice this crazy, beautiful language we call English. Do you need help with grammar, pronunciation, phrasal verbs, idioms, conversation or just want a refresher? I would be more than happy to be your English guide. Small group and semi-private and private classes are available.
I am a Long Island based instructor and certified to teach English as a second language; this includes English literacy and reading. I have taught at a community college in New York and really enjoy watching the light bulb flash when a student understands something new. Also, I have been a swimming instructor and a lifeguard for seven years. I've coached and worked with all levels and ages. I am a motivator and your cheerleader, and I want to help you accomplish your goals.
I am a master's degree graduate from the University of Ireland who has written numerous published economic articles as well as authored poetic and narrative prose.
I teach business English. I teach American English for both reading comprehension and composition writing.
I understand that content is equally important to test technique. Studying isolated patches of topics without connecting them to test strategy does not spell success in the game of standardized test taking.
