I hired Chef Doris Worthington and her team at "Now That Was A Great Party" to cater my sister's 75th surprise birthday party on Sunday, April 9, 2017. It was by far the best decision I could have made. I found their catering service through Thumb Tack, and took a chance to use the service, because all the coordination had to be done long distance; by telephone, text and Email. This catering service is Top Notch. They lived up to their word and their website advertisement. They were very professional and knowledgable about their customer's catering needs. Doris was able to offer several suggestions which helped to enhance the success of our party. Every detail was perfectly coordinated by the Caterer; from the table displays (which were beautiful), to the choice of colors to blend in with our color scheme; to perfecto food choices. The food was absolutely delicious. My sister was totally surprised and most pleased with the service and the food. We could not have asked for better service. We are very grateful to Chef Doris and her team at "Now That Was A Great Party". They certainly lived up to the business name. - What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?I do have a standard pricing system for Event Planning: if I have helped you plan your event from Inception to execution I charge twenty percent (20%) of the total cost of your event. If you are looking for "day of" services I charge an hourly rate of $100.00. Catering services will always depend on the food and staffing and rentals which can only be figured depending upon what is requested.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?My typical process for working with a new customer begins with a telephone intake conversation: what, when, where, etc? Once we have spoken on the phone I ask the Customer to have a face to face meeting in a location where they are comfortable. During the face to face meeting I begin to fill in the blanks by filling out an event intake form. I ask lots of questions and I encouragemy customers to ask lots of questions also: I get a sense of what they want, they get a sense of who I am and how I might help and most importantly: do they feel comfortable with me? If the customer is comfortable that meeting becomes the first of many meetings and phone calls that will happen until our plan is solid. Then I/we set our plan in motion and we don't stop until the "day of" when we see our plan materialize. Oh how I love it when a plan comes together.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I earned my Certification for "Event Planner from Union County College in Cranford, NJ. I earned my Culinary And ServSafe Manager Certifications from the Food Service Training Academy in Hillside NJ.
