I've been around a few NYC dance studios (BDC, Alvin Aileys, etc.) and private instructors so I feel confident in the following assessment of Dariusz. So far I've attended a few private salsa and hip hop dance lessons with Dariusz since this spring and found his style both enjoyable in terms of keeping the mood and feeling positive, while still providing solid technical and engaging feedback that would improve my dancing and general performance. Dariusz rises to the top as someone who puts more than the average amount of thought and preparation not only into his material, but how he delivers his message. His methods, presentation and information are all rock solid. His awareness of technical terminology, basic dynamics, combined with a desire for excellence means he creates lessons that are just challenging enough to help you create a solid foundation and to have fun in the meantime. Dariusz is one of the most well-trained, reliable, and most experienced salsa & hip hop instructors in the NYC Area. I recommend seeing him whether you are an absolute beginner, like me, or a competitive professional. Keep up the good work Dariusz! Best, SC.

Arati taught my husband and I basic Salsa steps to Bollywood tunes. We wanted to do a fusion performance for my brothers wedding in India, and asked her to do private classes with us. Not only did we have oh-so-much fun while prepping for it, Arati made the steps easy to follow and broke down each part so two-left-feet people like us could end up looking like novices on stage. We left with a applauding crowd, a bag of memories and a new friend! Highly recommend trying her classes in NYC or hiring her for a private dance lesson.

Irina is a true pro, we highly recommend her services! We signed up a few wks before our wedding date looking to learn more abt dancing as a couple, concentrating on Latin music. Irina is warm, patient, understanding and does a great job verbally, and of course physically, teaching the art of dance. She was impressively able to jump back and forth btwn teaching the male vs female roles in merengue, salsa, and bachata, so that my husband and I were able to equally learn and understand consistently throughout the process. Irina was always on time and disciplined with keeping her and our schedule on track. She was even awesome enough to let us bring our dog to lessons and would always kindly remember to bring treats for him. We were super grateful for Irina’s professionalism and will continue to work with her even after our wedding Bc the dance lessons are a great way to spend date nights!

Olga was awesome to work with - my husband and I wanted to get some lessons for our first dance at our wedding and we're SO happy we found her. She knew exactly what style to do once she heard our song, and choreographed the whole thing for us from start to finish. Within the first lesson, she knew exactly what she wanted to teach us and have us do. And to top it off, she was so fun to work with! I think she probably had us laughing more times than not throughout our lessons - we highly recommend her!!!!

As a 58 year old woman I was amazed at how patient and full of enthusiasm Ernesto was teaching my group of family members to dance Latin dances for my daughter's wedding. He made the lesson so fun and got us all into it. The best of all was watching his moves...omg what a great dancer! Since I love to dance, I would love for him to take me out on the dance floor and lead me around at an event. You could not ask for a better dance instructor (and he is super handsome also!).

Andrianna was our dance instructor for salsa lessons and the hustle. She is a very patient person, especially when your husband had two left feet. When we decided to choreograph a dance for our wedding, she easily transitioned us into swing with a bit of hustle in the middle. It's great taking classes with her as she knows when to step in and take the lead, pretty much to quell any arguments. And her choreography was so fun! Resort said it was the best dance they'd seen! She was even there to rehearse with us. I cannot recommend her enough! Amazing ...

Great Latin ballroom teacher. My style, grace and beautiful execution of feet and legs improved greatly under her coaching. If I still lived in NY I would be going to have lessons with her. She is very focused on improving her students dancing skills and making it a lot of fun in the process.

I've been taking dance lessons from Alexei for many years and find that each year gets more interesting in what I am able to achieve. He is the most patient, understanding and talented instructor I could hope to find. Although I don't take lessons from Lola, I can attest to her talent and patience also. Further, they are both genuinely interested in their students and the progress they make. I consider them super!

I had a short period of lessons from Eno, he was one of the best ballroom dance instructors I ever had. Picked up my weak points quickly and spent so much time to correct and answered all my endless questions till I was fully satisfied; hence, I didn't hesitate to ask anything I wondered and could talk openly, which is very important to build a good dancing relationship. By looking at his way to dance and teach, I thought he had danced almost 10 years but actually it was much less surprisingly. He must be so talented. I wish he were in my town, would highly recommend to all levels of dancers!!

I've been around a few NYC dance studios (BDC, Alvin Aileys, etc.) and private instructors so I feel confident in the following assessment of Elisa. So far I've attended a few private ballet dance lessons with Elisa since this spring and found her style both enjoyable in terms of keeping the mood and feeling positive, while still providing solid technical and engaging feedback that would improve my dancing and general performance. I've already learned so much technical terms and improved my overall body tone and posture. Elisa is one of the most patient, well-trained, highly skilled, reliable, and experienced ballet instructor in the NYC Area. Not only does she offer extremely competitive rates, but she is also very accommodating and her schedule is fairly open and flexible. As aforementioned, I've taken privates and group classes elsewhere, but they pale in comparison to Elisa. Elisa carries a commendable etiquette and a soothing personality; she doesn't rush or blaze through the techniques with frustration and arrogance as others have with me. So all in all, I recommend seeing Elisa whether you are an absolute beginner, like me, or a professional dancer. Keep up the good work Elisa! Best, SC.

I am specializing in salsa on 1/2. I also teach swing, hustle, and freestyle basic house. I am an independent dance instructor as of 2 years ago. My prices are lower than a studio. I teach in homes and studios, so it's convenient for you. On Thursday nights, you can find me at Gonzalez y Gonzalez 192 Mercer St., NYC teaching a beginner salsa class at 9:00 PM. A live band follows right after. It gives you a chance to practice. My students and friends come each week to practice and enjoy live Latin music.

    About

I am a ballroom and Latin dance teacher. I have been competing in ballroom and Latin dance throughout the US for more than 12 years. World-renowned Blackpool finalists -- Giampiero Giannico, Paul Richardson, Andrew Phillip, and Olga Rodianova -- and dance superstars, Igor Litvinov and Gary and Rita Gekhman (their Robot Showdance was featured in "Dancing with the Stars") are among the many great teachers I have had. I am also a writer of dance and fitness articles as a columnist for an Internet magazine.

    About

Steven T. Williams began dancing at the age of 9 when an organization decided to take children attending inner city schools and give them a sense of direction, taking them off the street and into a dance studio. The program consisted training in modern, jazz, tap, ballet, ballroom, hip hop, voice, and more. They are called the National Dance Institute (NDI) founded by Jacques d'Amboise of the New York City Ballet. His love for the arts continued to grow as he not only continued his education at NDI, but also attended the theatre department of LaGuardia H.S. for the Performing Arts. He went on to graduate from S.U.N.Y. New Paltz with a B.A. in both technical and performance theatre, as well as a half a year of post graduate work at the acclaimed Moscow Art Theater. Performing has always been at the forefront of Steven's life. He has had the opportunity to work alongside many actors, artists, choreographers, and dancers alike, all of whom have inspired him and the lives of others. Some of his credits include projects for Michael Jackson, Beyonce, Mariah Carey, Nelly Furtado, Jamie-Lynn, and many others. He has done commercials for Pepsi (Vanilla) and iPod, and was in the off-Broadway production of The Harlequin Studies, starring Bill Irwin. He recently came off tour with Cirque Du Soleil's production of Banana Shpeel. Steven's passion for expression will endure through all trials of life, which he hopes to express within his own art. He considers a classroom full of students as a canvas, and a teacher as its painter. Seize every moment. Continue to love! Never regret; always accept! Enjoy what you have when you have it because you may just lose it. Agape - Aheb

How much do dance lessons cost?

Adults who want to learn to dance, whether to prepare for a wedding or to meet new people, often enjoy taking dance lessons from an experienced dance instructor. Instructors may offer classes one-on-one to individual students or couples, or to small groups. The national average cost for a dance instructor ranges from $30 to $50. Some studios offer a discounted introductory lessons or group lessons, as well as package deals that are more affordable than paying for individual lessons. Some dance instructors will travel to the student’s home, which usually costs more, while others hold small-group sessions in their studios.
