Introduction: Great day to you. I love to help people reach their goals and bring the best out of them all while having fun, at their pace. I am currently a Rutgers Football strength and conditioning coach. I am also a former NFL player with a wide range of experience in personal training. I love opening my mind and adapting to everyone's situation. Some people want to train in a gym, in home, walking, etc and I have something for every person/group. No one will be left out because of their preference. I help people with all types of pains, aches, or injuries (back, knee, etc.). I customize workouts for each person I work with and I work with new people every day. You're not just clients to me, but teammates/friends and eventually like family. I invest my best into you, with proper techniques, my energy, competitive nature, jokes, etc. I love showing people that what they want to achieve doesn't have to come from killing yourself or giving everything up, but crushing the 'simple' things that I give to you. In reality, no trainer can guarantee results. Your discipline, ability to sacrifice what you want now for what you truly want, and accountability is just as, if not more important than the workouts. I will continue to grow everyday the same way you will. Regardless if you choose me or not, I wish you the best along your journey. You can feel free to check out my Shock The World Youtube channel to see FREE in-home workouts with no equipment. A little background about me. I came in to college (Rutgers) to play football in June 2007 at 173 pounds. By August 2007, I weighed 195 pounds. I tore both ACLs and was a 4th string safety my last year in college. I came back from surgery to run the fastest I've ever run and found a way to grind my way into the NFL. While in college, I did mission trips and found a huge passion. Once I was cut from the NFL, I wanted to figure out a way to stay in shape and help people. This made perfect sense to me. I've had interviews with Merrill Lynch, New York Life, etc, but decided to follow my passion. If you want to train, I just ask that you have a serious attitude for your goals. We will have a ton of fun. I listen to everything with my team members from Pop, Rock, Hip Hop, Disney, etc. and can adjust to any personality. I am not a professional nutritionist; however, I have worked with many and have put together my own diet planner for my team members to help with their success. I give simple tips to help you reach your goals. I would love to help you as well.

I have been working out with Mason for 3 months. Having worked out with trainers before, I find him to be *well above* their league in terms of professionalism, drive and how specifically and scientifically he improves performance. He is exacting in how he instructs and motivates and my performance in overall health, fitness, and sport (tennis) has improved dramatically. I am a 45 year old physician and in the time I have started working out with Mason, I have multiple personal records in bench press, squat and sprinting times. My balance, reflexes and endurance have tremendously improved as has my body composition (gained muscle and lost 5% body fat). My only regret is that I did not meet him earlier!

If you’re looking to gain strength and flexibility while having fun you should Definitely hire Mason! I am a stay at home mom with two little ones and he was able to adjust with my schedule. Mason was so sweet to my girls and never made me feel bad about having to workout with them running all over. I was able to go at my own pace while having a great workout. This is the strongest I have ever felt thanks to Mason!

Coach Mason made a real impact with my 12 year old athlete son over several sessions. He took the time to understand my son’s needs in loosing weight and becoming more fit for soccer and waterpolo. Coach Mason really motivated my son with inspiring stories, nutrition support and customized drills and games that he looked forward to every week. I strongly recommend Coach Mason if you’re looking for a personal trainer to motivate you to achieve your goals.

What I like about Mason from Shock the World is that he knows how to motivate me. He makes each of my training sessions challenging but rewarding while giving me the push I need. I would recommend him as your personal trainer if you want to achieve your fitness goals.

In just 4 weeks of training with Mason I have noticed a huge difference in my body appearance and my confidence. Mason has taught me to push myself and when I feel I am about to tap out he pushes me to keep going and pushes my limits. I have seen a difference in the way my clothes feel and look. It has been a pleasure to working with Mason.

FAQs

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

People always asked me how I got the body that I have. People always want me to design workouts for them. I've been training since I was a little kid. I see way too many people that are out of shape now a days. I also went to several gyms and watched people use horrible form regardless of the weight that they used. I've also watched "certified" trainers teach people the wrong technique and not have an idea as to what they were doing. I have learned from some of the best trainers at the college and professional levels for football. I've also learned from trainers that train athletes from other sports and both genders (athletes and non athletes). I have learned from a military veteran. With all that added together, I feel like I have too much stored in my mind not to give it out to others. I knew that I wanted to help people because if I'm not willing to help, then I shouldn't say anything when I see bad technique or anything that I don't agree with. Allow me to help you.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

The best advice that I feel like I can give you is to execute. What that means is, stop talking about it, stop putting it off, and stop saying that you can handle it yourself. We all need other forms of iron to sharpen ours. Be consistent and be honest with yourself. It's not an easy process, but you have to be willing to go farther than you've ever went to get something that you've been struggling with.

  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

I wish clients knew about the passion that I have about achieving goals. I hope you do not let it scare you. You will be able to move at your pace, I am here to push you beyond your threshold. While we train you may hate me at first, but you will love me afterwards. I will never give up on a person that is trying. I will always help you perfect your technique the best way that I know how. I will also, never make you do something that I am not willing to do. I may post videos of me doing crazy workouts, I know that you will not be there in a day. I will help you build yourself up close to that level if not to that level. I do not like to use scales because they are tricky. Back in the day before scales were invented, no one worried about their weight or diet, they were just more active and kept their body in shape. Therefore, why should we always run to the scale just to be disappointed. If you feel better about your body and your mind and you begin seeing definition in your muscles, then why take the chance of killing your confidence by stepping on the scale? If you're comfortably fitting into smaller clothes than before or your regular clothes do not fit anymore, but you don't see lost pounds on the scale, are you getting results? Underneath fat, muscle will build and muscle is heavier than fat so of course the scale won't really change if you are building muscle underneath your fat. However, you are still achieving results.
