""After 20 years, I still choose Steve as my massage therapist! I've experienced many, including those at some top world destination spas, and no one holds a candle to Steve. He listens to your needs and intuitively senses your best approach plus applies feedback. Steve is a very professional and talented practitioner with multiple service offerings. Over the years, my favorites have become his Reiki infused Swedish and deep tissue massage and the ULTIMATE is his Thai massage. You've got to try Steve's Thai massage!! I've even had Thai massage in Thailand and still - Steve is better!! I highly recommend him. You won't be disappointed.""

"Having Dianelle as my natural hairstylist is a blessing. I am African So far she has worked with my hair 3 times and all three of those natural style came out beautiful and on point and lasted for quite a long time. So many people compliment my hairstyles and is always asking for her info she she can do their hair too! Lol She knows what she is doing and does my hair exactly how I want it and at the end always makes sure that it's the way I want it and that I'm happy with it. She is very proffesional and does her work quick but always makes sure it good quality but also very caring and considerate and genuine .She also has great experience doing relaxed hair, weaves and other hair ethnicities so she does not discriminate! I've seen most of the finished products of the other types of hair she does and they all were beautiful. I would recommend her to everybody that want their hair done. P.S she has done my sister's hair for her wedding who is also natural and it was like a wonderful work of art. Everyone loved it and h hair got more attention then her lol So I give Dianelle 5 stars!! "

"Dave was one of the best massage therapists I ever had. My herniated disks in my neck and lower back massages can easily be aggravated by massages. But Dave's massage was very healing even in these areas. I would highly recommend this excellent masseur."

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is Thai massage?

Thai massage, also called Thai yoga massage, combines acupressure and assisted yoga postures. Thai massage is based on the flow of energy through the body and focuses on energy lines called “sen.” It doesn’t use oils or lotions and, instead of rubbing muscles, the massage therapist compresses, pulls, stretches and rocks the recipient’s body to promote the flow of energy through these sen. In this form of massage therapy, practitioners use their hands, knees, legs and feet to apply deep muscle compression and stretch the body. It’s often performed on a mat on the floor instead of on a massage table. Like most forms of massage, Thai massage is used to relieve stress, improve range of motion and enhance flexibility. Some people also use Thai massage to address a range of health issues, including:

  • Relieving tension headaches
  • Decreasing back pain
  • Reducing joint stiffness and pain
  • Stimulating circulation and lymphatic drainage
  • Boosting energy

Because a traditional Thai massage session covers all of the muscles in your body, it typically lasts 90 minutes to 120 minutes.

How much do you tip a massage therapist?

All forms of massage therapy, from Thai massage to Swedish massage to deep tissue massage, are similar to other spa or hospitality services. So it’s appropriate to tip a massage therapist the standard hospitality rate of 15 percent to 20 percent of the cost of the session. For example, the national average cost for a deep tissue massage is $70-$90, so expect to tip $12-$18. Of course, you can always tip more or less depending on your experience, especially if you’ve opted for extra services. For example, expect to tip more for a couple’s hot stone massage session that includes aromatherapy. Also, if you’re paying with a gift certificate or coupon, or purchasing a discounted multi-session package, make sure to calculate your tip based on the full price of the massage.
