- How did you get started doing this type of work?
When I was teenager I awoke in the middle of the night, feeling warm, only to witness my Mother's home in flames from the floor to the ceiling. The fire was only feet away from me. Without much time to react I threw my pets outside. Then, if a state of being tired, shocked, and confused, I actually called 911 from our land line. Quickly deciding that I better call from a home that wasn't burning down, I woke my neighbors up in the middle of the night and called 911. I watched my home go up in flames, and the fire fighters put it out. When mother came home, there was a public adjuster at her door. Signing with him was the best thing she could have ever done after the fire. I witnessed first hand what the insurance company did to try to minimize, deny, and delay coverage. If it were up to the insurance company we would have kept 3 walls of the house, they would have thrown our damaged belongings into a dumpster right away, and we would have to itemize everything from memory. Her public adjuster and his team put us into a hotel for a few days before we found an apartment (which was covered by the insurance) He was able to completely indemnify the damage by rebuilding the house, itemizing every item in the house to get a payout to replace them. I like making sure that insurance companies pay policy holders fairly

A client had storm damage, the roof was leaking. They called their insurance company to come out and look at it. Their deductible was $1000. The insurance company adjuster came and estimated the damage to be just under the deductible. We came in for a second opinion and estimated the damage to be much more, and were able to get the home owner paid to fix their home. This happens often.
