- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I am the daughter of an architect who took me to many of his job sites as I was growing up. I remember the El Fidel Hotel before and while it was being turned into Copper Square, I remember seeing the Abq. Natural History Museum being built and meeting the artists that did many of the murals inside, and I remember watching the giant panes of glass being erected to enclose the stadium at the State Fair racetrack. I think it was inevitable to follow in my fathers' footsteps. As an adult, I have worked with my father for more than 10 years and have loved every minute of it.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Interview more than one person, make sure you feel comfortable with the professional you choose.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
Interior designers have the ability to complete interior construction drawings, manage construction, budgets, and subcontractors. Our drawings do need to be supplemented and stamped by an architect (for some project types), that gives us the opportunity to collaborate with another professional to ensure you are getting the best design possible.
