Introduction: I have been teaching in Albuquerque since 1986 when I joined the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra. I have taught countless students over the years, all ages and all levels of ability. Some of my students have matriculated to fine conservatories and into the professional field as performers and educators. Many of my students have gained abilities that have helped them in their school bands, orchestras, jazz bands and beyond. All of my students have gained an ability, insight, and a sense of accomplishment that they carry with them during their life's journey. For beginning drum students, all begin with reading and proper technique. Drumset is usually started at the second lesson. After some growth in these areas, the student generally chooses a path, like drumset, concert percussion, marimba specialist, the list goes on. For non-beginners, generally college and adults, students come in with more specific wants. Together we work toward satisfying those goals. For piano students, I am not your traditional scary teacher. My goal is to make it fun while learning. I do use a methodology as a base, but supplement freely with level appropriate materials that engage the student. All along the journey, theory is a strong tenet of my approach. I have two guarantees as a teacher; 1) You will learn how to play and appreciate music that will become a part of you for life. 2) You will have fun! Private teaching is a wonderfully rewarding experience. It's truly a gift to be able to work with such a diverse collection of personalities. The teacher/student bonds are priceless.

Mr. C is an extremely talented musician & professional instructor. My boys enjoyed learning to play the piano with Mr. C. I highly recommend Mr. Cornelius to anyone regardless of age or level.

I have been playing drums for over 20 years. Jeff Cornelius is the single greatest drum teacher out there. Punctual, professional, supportive, novel - he provides a superior musical/drumming pedagogical experience. Moreover, one of my young children is also a student; he is a fantastic teacher for children as well.
