FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Yes. It is required by law. I have studied Qigong and some Medical Massage for continuing education.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Actually, my sister made me do it!! I had never had a professional massage before. I had NO intention of "touching" people all day long. She insisted that if I would go to a class I would see that massage was not about touching PEOPLE or SKIN, it was all muscle related. She bugged me until I went to sit in on a class. I did, it was very interesting and I signed up that day. Now I realize how important it is to take care of yourself and how wonderful it feels when you find a good therapist that knows what they're doing.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Be careful. There are a lot of GREAT, PROFESSIONAL, LICENSED therapist out there, but there are also a lot of people posing to be therapist that are not licensed and really have no intention of providing professional services. When you call the therapist, you can ask for references, you can ask for their License # and call the State of NM Massage Therapy Board in Santa Fe to verify the licensee. Our licenses do expire, they can let you know.
