- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I am required by the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) to maintain my CEUs. My most recent courses of study that I am working on are Weight Loss Specialist (WLS) and Behavior Change Specialist (BCS). I also subscribe to numerous journals and attend conferences.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?I decided to become a Health and Wellness Coach and a Certified Personal Trainer for a few reasons. I have always been passionate about health and fitness, but after I turned 40, I started realizing that it is even more important than ever to focus on our health. We cannot take our health for granted and proper nutrition and exercise are critical to leading an active lifestyle. We are only given one body, and we must take care of it nobody else can take care of it for us!! I also realized many people believe they can no longer maintain or improve muscular endurance after age 40. I wanted to share my success and my story to inspire and help others get the same results. Finally, I recognized the psychological benefits of exercise and the positive effects on our mood. Exercise reduces stress, decreases depression and anxiety, improves sleep, and just helps us feel better. These are all things that are critical for anyone, but especially people over 40 who are juggling careers, kids, parents, and countless other responsibilities. Although I enjoy helping everyone, I particularly enjoy working with people over the age of 40. I am their coach and their cheerleader and love to support them every step of the way! My true passion in life is to help others. I want to help others on their fitness journey and to help them achieve their goals whether it be weight loss, strength, toning, or performance improvement. Whatever the goal, in the end, fitness helps us lead a healthier, active life and I want to help as many people as I can one person at a time.
- What types of customers have you worked with?I specialize in weight loss and behavior modification for women over 40 by using a combination of diet and exercise based on clients tastes and interests. I customize each program to ensure my client is successful.
