Wonderful experience! We've boarded our cats in the past but hated doing it because it stresses them out terribly and they always need several days to calm down after we get back home. When we planned a week long trip to see family, I knew boarding them wouldn't work but they require constant care (I feed them four times a day for instance). Since one in particular has special needs, I was nervous to let just anyone care for her so when I saw that All Creatures is comprised of vet techs who come to your home and care for your pets I thought that sounded perfect. Nonetheless, I was nervous to let a stranger come into my home while I was away and care for my cats -- I'd never done this before and I have older cats, one of which requires her food to be mixed a certain way and requires subcutaneous fluids administered every three days because she has kidney problems and our other cat is extremely shy so we were worried about her not eating enough because she hides for hours any time a new person comes around but Lyndsy and Alicia were amazing. They met with us first to go over everything and meet the kitties. They made sure all our questions were answered and that they understood the routine before they left. They sent us frequent photos and messages letting us know how things were going while we were away, and took amazing care of our babies so we could enjoy our vacation. When we had trouble with the app we were using to make payment, they worked with us and took excellent care of our babies even though we ended up not being able to pay until we got home. Unlike when we got them back from being boarded, they were their normal selves when we got home. I would not hesitate to recommend them and fully plan to use their services again next time we go out of town AND we feel like we can actually feel comfortable making plans since we don't have to worry about putting them through the stress of being boarded any time we consider going out of town. All around wonderful experience -- can't say enough nice things about them!

I had been given Anniina's name by a friend of mine whom I volunteer with at a local dog rescue, for animal behaviorism. My husband and I had just adopted a 5 year old male Maine Coon cat, Muskat. We presently have 2 German Shepherd dogs and 1 domestic cat, Oreo. I have been around animals all my life and feel very comfortable with dog behavior and introducing dogs to cats. However, I have never had 2 cats before, and Oreo had been a rescue cat when she was 10 weeks old and has always been an ONLY cat (she is now 14 years old). Needless to say, the cat intro did not go well. It was clear that Muskat had been around other cats, but Oreo was not having any of it. So, that's when I reached out to Anniina. Anniina was very honest from the beginning, admitting that she's never been asked to come to help out with cats (more specifically she works with dogs), but assured us that she has ample experience with cats. Anniina was so professional, flexible and forthright. She came to our home and was able to offer suggestions and put our minds at ease, that eventually, Oreo and Muskat will likely be able to reside in the same home, without any major fights. She gave suggestions and advice that was very clear cut. We followed all of her advice, and we can happily say that in less than two months we are now all happily co-existing (only an occasional hiss from Miss Oreo). Anniina has stayed available via text and I have reached out to her several times after her first visit. She's always responsive and never blew me off. I would HIGHLY recommend Anniina to anyone who has behavior problems with both dogs and cats!!

Ken was truly amazing! He took the time to really get to know both me and my dog and develop a individualized plan to meet our needs.n I feel like my dog and I have made so much progress and that Ken has given me the tools to continue to work with my dog even after our one on one sessions have been completed.

Mandy is simply the best. I was so nervous about leaving my dog with anyone but I could not feel better about my experience. She goes above and beyond. My dog fell in love with this fluffy part of a blanket she gave it to me, she washed my dogs blankets, she sent me pictures and videos throughout the day. I felt so at easy. Mandy is the type of person who does this because she loves animals and is so kind!

The only thing better than being a dog at Cherie's place is being the owner of a dog who gets to stay at Cherie's place! I'm an overprotective doggy mom. I admit it. When I took a job working 12 hour days, I knew I'd have to board my baby. Boarding. Kennels. Ugh. Just those words made my stomach turn. I searched all over Vegas, and just by luck, Cherie was officially opening the week I started work! No kennels? All small dogs?? Overnight care??? Yes! I was nervous, so Cherie suggested a meet and greet. The first good sign was that she was firm about the drop off procedure. She asked me to text or call when I got there, then she would let me in. I like that she didn't want clients just strolling up to her door and sending all of the dogs into a barkstorm by ringing the bell. Smart move. Her back yard is double gated for security, even the pool is gated, and she uses a gated side door to transfer pups to/fro their owners. The first thing I noticed when I walked in is how calm it was. The lights were soothingly low, the temperature was cool, and the dogs (I think there were nine that day!) were excited to see a new kid, but not one of them showed even the slightest hint of aggression. My dog hasn't been around many other dogs, so I was hesitant to throw him in the mix, but after a few tries at convincing me, Cherie just said, "relax, put him down. He's fine. Sheesh." So I did. And just like she said, he was fine! The visit went really well, so I dropped him off the next morning. Luckily, I'm working nearby, so Cherie agreed to let me visit him in the evening. That night, I fully expected my dog to come running to me, jump into my arms, and curl into a please-take-me-home ball. What I got was an "oh, hey, hi! I love you! Ok I'm gonna go play now!" Wagwagwag, back to his new friends. Ha! I was thrilled! Cherie has offered me to visit for several hours each night that she will have him. She took care of me and my dog! She let me lay on the floor and play with the pack, and she even shared her dinner with me! Plus, she knew that my dog is a finicky eater, so she shared her supply of pricey fresh dog food packets with my pup! Cherie is very honest, and though the vibe of the house is relaxed, she runs a tight ship. If she sees something that might help your dog acclamate to her home, she's gonna say it. In fact, she speaks her mind on any dog related issue, and I respect that. She just wants the dogs to do their dog thing and be happy. There are lots of ways she could make a lot more money. She rescues and cares for dogs because it's in her soul. Oh, and did I mention that she got my dog to swim for the first time ever? Holy smokes. Go drop your dog off. You'll be doing him/her a favor!

Nancy was such an amazing petsitter! We used her while we were away on our honeymoon and it was such a relief knowing we had someone so professional watching our animals. We have five animals (2 cats, 2 dogs, and 1 rabbit) so I'm sure she had her hands full, but she handled everything so well. I loved that she kept in touch via text while we were gone as well as sent us photos of our animals to show us how they were doing. She cleaned everything before she left which was very nice of her. We used her services for overnight stays and pet taxi. We'll definitely be using her again in the future!

    About

Hi my name is Keelin, I have always had a passion for animals and growing up as a kid pets were family members. I think the most important thing about choosing someone to watch over and take care of your family member is knowing that the person looking after them cares about their happiness and well being as you do. A typical day with your pet depending on his/her needs could include a walk/drive to our local park to play! I absolutely love pet play, it is such a big part of their health and fitness and bringing a smile to their face. We have great walking paths in my complex as well. Of course some well deserved rest time and then a bath service is available with a good brushing to help settle in for the night. I have and can work with reptiles, fish, small mammals/rodents as well as a variety of farm animals. Quotes are available and assessed based on species/care needed. I do have three furry/feathered children in my home. My cats Bastet, Pepper Minthe and Aries, then there is my Parakeet Apollo. If your furry loved one is not a fan of cats there is no need to worry. Give me a heads up in advance and Bastet, Minthe and Aries have their own private accommodations available. Bastet has lived with three rascal pups in the past and has minimal issues with dogs. My roommate has a sweet pup her name is Buttercup! She is a small terrier mix and she has gotten along great with my three cats! She is jut getting socialized with dogs and has been amazing with the guests that have come over so far! She is very playful and active. If need be she does have her own personal accommodations while guests are present. I do have a 7 year old Daughter named Esmae, she is a big animal lover! She loves learning about animals and learning to take care of them. I prefer that all pets that visit our Pet Friendly Home also be Kid Friendly! Thank you and I look forward to caring for your furry family member! I love working with so many different types of pets. One of the things I take pride in with my work is always furthering my education and knowledge of different pets, personalities and interacting with them to meet their needs.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    What is horse boarding?

Horse boarding is like rental housing for your horse. Horse boarding is helpful for people who don’t have the space or the resources to install and maintain a stable on their property. A horse can be housed in a barn with other horses and receive the care they need. Owners can visit their horse for riding, grooming, training, etc. Horse boarding services may vary based on the company and the price. Some horse boarders may offer short-term boarding of 24 hours to several nights for people passing through an area, while most offer boarding by the month for horses whose owners live in the area. There is partial- and full-service boarding, which indicates how much of the work of feeding the horse and cleaning the stall is the responsibility of the owner rather than the boarding barn. For an added fee, horse boarding can also include grooming services, riding and training, medication administration, and more.

To find the right boarding fit for you and your horse, make a list of your top priorities. These might include immediate access to riding trails, round-the-clock supervision, or a nearby or affiliated veterinarian. Always visit the site to learn exactly where your horse will be kept and whether the barn and grounds are in good condition. Read reviews, and always practice smart hiring. It’s also critical to sign the proper legal documents that protect both you and your horse, such as boarding agreements. Above all, make sure it seems like a place your horse will be comfortable between your visits.

Where can I board my horse?

You can board your horse at any barn or stable that provides horse boarding services. To find horse boarding near you, read reviews of area locations and speak with equestrian friends to find one with a solid reputation. Ideally, the location will be within a reasonable drive from your home or office. This is especially important if you are paying for partial boarding services and are responsible for feeding your horse and cleaning its stall each day. You may choose your boarding barn or stables based on the services they provide. Some offer more extensive amenities — at an added price — that reduce the amount of work you need to do to keep your horse comfortable. Consider whether you want training, blanketing, exercise and other perks in addition to standard offerings like hay and stable mucking. Your stable may have temperament requirements and proof that your horse has the proper vaccinations required by your state. This protects both your horse and the other horses in the stable. Many states require that locations offering horse boarding services have stable licenses that are renewed each year. Always be sure to enter into a clearly written boarding contract that will cover your horse and belongings in case of accident, and remember our tips for smart hiring.

How much does boarding a horse cost?

Finding the right horse boarding location is a big step in a horse owner’s life. This will be the place your horse will live and where you will visit multiple times per week or even daily. The cost of horse boarding will depend on the level of service you desire, the location of the stables, and the luxury level of the property. Here are some examples of average horse boarding costs:

    • Overnight stabling: $30 per horse per night.
    • Partial boarding (owner feeds and mucks): $220 per horse per month, with a three-month commitment.
      • Administration of oral medication: $10 per dose.
      • Bandaging: $20 per event, plus cost of materials.
      • Trailering to vet if owner is unable: $25, plus $25 per hour to wait with horse.
    • Basic full boarding: $325-$350 per month per horse. Includes twice daily hay and daily stall cleaning.
      • Horse training: $20 per session.
      • Pasture turn out: $20 per session.
      • Blanketing: $1 per day/$30 per month.
      • Vet or farrier hold: $20. This means haltering the horse and standing with it as it receives treatment or shoeing.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
