- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Yes. A 15% Discount is given to Thumbtack users.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I always ask what kind of music or artists you like. I base lessons around your musical tastes (Rock, Pop, Jazz, etc.) Lessons are more fun when you're playing music that you enjoy. Next, I create a combination of both what the student WANTS and what the student NEEDS to reach their goals.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Although I have been trained and have studied music all of my life*, the best education and training has come on the job. Asking questions, listening, being empathetic and aware of a students' needs, shaping my teaching to fit the style and personality of the student, weren't things I learned in school. I learned from experience. Music is a gift! Once it is approached in that manner, human nature takes over. Who doesn't appreciate a gift, who doesn't like fun? Everyone wants to participate, everyone likes a good time, everyone wants to share. (*beware of teachers who aren't still learning)
