Rick replaced a 220 outlet for dryer in my friends home. He was business like, very polite. He was on time, did an excellent quality of work. Nothing could have improved the experience. Everything went right and yes I would hire Rick again.

I would highly recommend Diego and DiSalvo Services. They recently provided significant upgrades to my home - painting, granite countertops, really nice laminate flooring, and carpeting. Diego does what he says he's going to do, period, which was highly satisfying. He even did several nice touches around the house that I was not expecting. I would highly recommend Diego!

Dan put up large mirrors, pictures and art work in my home. He brought the needed equipment, checked positioning with me before finalizing the hanging and cleaned up. He worked hard to please me. I highly recommend him for this kind of work.

Al Gallo is a credit to Thumbtack. He and his helper worked tirelessly to hang a 5' by 7' painting. They did an incredible job. Al is an all around handyman and we will certainly by calling on him to do many more jobs.

We just had our home painted by Renew-All Construction & Repair LLC. They're a tight knit family owned company and they make a great team. We were really happy with their customer service focus. They do not rest until you are satisfied with the results. The are responsive and go above and beyond to make sure you are satisfied with the results. Every time I texted or called , I got an immediate response. I don't think I've had a contractor be so accommodative in the past as this team was when painting our home. I have dealt with other painters and have noticed many mistakes long after they were gone. This company took pride in their work and did as much "touching up" as necessary to make sure the results were as close to perfect as possible. They are reasonably priced and we would definitely call them again when needed. Oh, and unlike a lot of other contractors and painters, they don't leave a mess!!!! Thank you all for all the hard work!!

I give Kenyatta Barnes, owner, Trade Em All Services 5*****+ for communication, courtesy, and concern you are happy with the final results after their visit to your home. It is obvious "no job is too big, too small, or too messy" for her and her staff. I hired them to do a lawn maintenance, garden trimming and a messy, messy cleanup job for my house and garden. I am extremely impressed with the take charge manner, skills and professional attitude of James and staff who came out to handle the job. James is a team player and team leader who knew exactly what I wanted done even before I had a chance to ask him and with a cheerful, quick and efficient manner got the job done. I will be using Trade Em All again for my home renovation and garden upkeep chores and can happily recommend this company to anyone and assure them you will find that your home renovations, garden and lawn maintenance will look clean and beautiful when they are finished. Great service. Originally quoted $199 but I requested additional services and was easily accommodated. Had two people working from 10:30am to 5pm for total of $399. Home was spotless when they left, and they did everything I asked. I was so pleased that I have hired him to return and conduct weekly service. In addition to cleaning he is capable of handyman services as well.

I accepted Gil's proposal based on the fact that he mentioned he had no overhead, like the bigger, more corporate companies, and therefore could be more fairly priced around my budget. I was very specific about everything I wanted to do, during our meeting, and I even wrote down an agreement with a list of everything I expected. I mentioned that I would like to physically go along with him to buy paints and baseboards, when it came time. We agreed on 30% upfront and 70% upon proper completion of all listed work. I'll list my experiences by positives and negatives: -Positives: Gil is quick to respond to messages and texts, he offered ideas as to how we could tackle the project. He's got a gentle soul, and he's a nice and respectful person. Our agreement in summary: Pop corn removal/texture application, includes planning, equipment, materials, area prep, roll/finish texture (Orange Peel) Every ceiling removed of pop corn. Wallpaper Removal/Glass removal. Includes everything plus setup and cleanup. Interior House Painting, scrape, sand, patch holes, defects, roll/spray or brush all walls, and all ceilings removed of wallpaper. Everything included, except cost of paint (which we were going to buy together) Knocking down 2 walls, to open up the rooms (Kitchen and livingroom/diningroom installing baseboards around the whole house. I gave him 30% as agreed. The first issue is, some wallpapers weren't removedas agreed, in the dining room, they were painted over instead, and when i realized this, I brought it up to Gil. He did rectify the issue, but I was sore at the fact that it wasn't done properly the first time around. The kitchen wall wasn't torn down and opened as I requested, and Gil mentioned that there was a load bearing issue. I feel others have done this successfully, and he should have been able to offer a solution, instead, we turned it into a window/bar situation, (which added costs, because now I had to hire someone else to make a bar, and i wasn't given a break on the price) The job took a lot longer than I was promised. I Hired gil on May 5th, and it wasn't completed until around the 19th. The master bedroom wasn't all done to satisfaction, because of some unforeseen circumstances, and all the mirrors which I'd mentioned to be disposed off, are still in my garage, and I believe Gil has left it up to me to dispose of them, which wasn't our agreement The spray painting was good enough, but every single door frame has paint unevenly bleeding into its edges. I don't feel proper prep time was dedicated to the edges and lines. I've had to hire someone else to come paint the frames, to clean them up. The wallpaper removal was very impressive, and I bet time consuming. He removed all the wallpaper as requested, the only issue I see with that is, the surface wasn't smoothed out properly, and some areas on the wall especially towards the floor, are a little rough. Altogether, commendable work. The baseboards weren't painted before installation, and I wasn't informed that this would make it difficult to paint, in the future. Having hired someone else to do the painting, it costs so much more. The installation was fantastic, everything fits, and everything is smooth, and properly caulked and ready for painting. I was never told when the paints were bought, yet, i had to reimburse for the purchases, and I still haven't found any of the cans. -The closets weren't prepped properly, and have uneven paint lines going to them, and at the corners and edges, the pop corn texture still shows. I think if they were not going to paint the closets, they should have covered it properly. Although some things were left in less than good condition, for the most part, everything was done beautifully, we didn't go over my budget, but we also took short cuts on some things that were agreed, mostly because I felt they took a little longer than I'd hoped, and by the end of it all, I was just ready for them to be done, so I could get back to my life. Overall, I'm satisfied with the job that was done, for the budget.

Hired Mike and his crew to patch the wall where I had a dog door installed. It involved framing out the the hole, putting up new drywall inside and matching the texture, and new stucco outside matching the texture and existing paint. Mike came out to quote the job and was clear with his price and expected time to completion. I expressed my need to get the job done faster and he rose to the occasion, getting it done a day earlier than promised. He showed up on time with a competent and friendly crew. They worked quickly and worked well and cleaned up their mess when they were done. The guys were obviously skilled in their respective crafts (a stucco guy, a drywall guy, and Mike as the painter). Would definitely recommend Mike and his guys. They weren't the cheapest bid I received, but they were pro and got it done right.

We hired Lenzen Contracting to scrape some popcorn ceilings and paint pretty much every wall in our house. Bob was great to work with. He gave us a competitive estimate and got the job done very quickly, even though he was short-staffed. You may be able to find cheaper painters out there, but Bob is legit (licensed, bonded, great BBB rating) and guarantees his work. That guarantee is nice to have, but it's nicer to not need it because the job is done properly in the first place.

We hired M&I to paint the exterior of our home earlier this year. We originally got quotes from three separate companies and Israel gave us the best quote. He did a wonderful job painting our home and we couldn't be happier! He's professional, reasonable, and very friendly too! Thank you M&I for an amazing job! Highly recommend!

Orlando Jr. was great to work with. He met me for an estimate on my time, which was very convenient. He communicated with me every step of the way. The estimate was more than fair. I am thrilled with the work they did painting my home interior. I will use them again for remodels and I highly recommend them.

Murat and his team had some unforeseen challenges when removing the existing flooring in my home. They took the extra time, at no extra cost, to do the job right. The final installation looks amazing! I would absolutely refer Murat for your next project.

Moved into a house with mediocre tile in the master bathroom. We hired RWSmith Craftsmen to take on the job and couldn't be happier with the results. Very professional, friendly, and have close attention to detail. It was one of our only worries about moving into this home but now that it no more. The bathroom looks great! We definitely plan to hire again in the future if other jobs need to be done.

The best thing I can say about Diverse Decors is the attitude, which was very good. The second thing was listing to my ideas and understanding my budget. Very professional with a warm touch and the work was completed to my satisfaction. I would recommend Diverse Decors to anyone who is looking to make their home feel more like home.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do painters cost?

The national average cost for an interior painter ranges between $450 and $900. Interior painters can tackle everything from complete color makeovers in each of your rooms to touching up an accent wall to painting pieces of furniture. The square footage and complexity of the project, along with the materials needed, are the main factors that will affect cost. Other factors include whether you supply the paint yourself or want the painter to do so, whether you move the furniture and do the prep work or ask them to do it, and whether any repair work is needed on the walls. Painting the ceiling and the trim will also have an effect on cost. The type of paint you choose can also raise or lower your house painting cost. A gallon of paint may range from $20 to over $100, depending on quality and brand. Ask your painter if they charge per hour or per square foot, and how much you can save by doing prep work (moving furniture, etc.) yourself.

How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house?

Interior house painting costs are calculated on a few key factors. Nationally, interior house painting projects range from $200 to $2,500. The wide price range indicates how much square footage, paint selection and labor can affect cost. One pro uses a laser to measure each room, subtracting the size of the doors and windows, and then bases the quote on the square footage of the actual surfaces to be painted. Painters may provide you with savings if you opt to paint your entire home rather than just having one room or an accent wall painted. For example, the average house painting cost for an 8x12 room with 8-foot ceilings is roughly $200, when contractor-grade paint is used. Painting ceilings, baseboards and frames can also affect cost. Pros may charge per linear foot to smooth and paint baseboards. In one area pros might charge 50 cents per linear foot to paint baseboards, while pros in another part of the country could charge $1.50 per linear foot for the same task. Painters may charge flat rates for painting door and window frames, with one charging $20-$25 and another $60 per door. Geography and regional costs to do business play a major role in the cost of interior painting. The same painter in a rural region has less to pay in taxes, transportation, insurance and overhead than they would in a major city like New York.

How much does a painter charge per room?

The cost to paint a room will vary based on the size of the room, the type of paint you select, any ceiling or trim work needed, and any repairs needed. If no repairs or other additional work is needed, painting a room with contractor-grade paint could range from $1 to $2 per square foot, including materials. Selecting a luxury paint (some cost more than $100 per gallon) will certainly increase your house painting costs. Here are some additional examples of average house painting costs, per room:

  • 12x12 room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 12x12 room with an 8-foot ceiling: about $100
  • 14x16 master bedroom with a 9-foot ceiling: about $150
  • 14x16 master bedroom with an 8-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 16x16 living room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $175
  • 16x16 living room with a 20-foot ceiling: starting at $225
