I don't think we could have found a better chef. Laurajean Pittman is the best. The food was great, she was very personable and everyone loved her. To be able to feed 11 hungry guys takes a lot but she was able to do it with no problems and the layout was wonderful as well. I will definitely use her services again!!!

5+++++ STARS From the time I was contacted by "Ecstasy Events by Char" with an initial bid , until completion, it was more than a pleasure. I initially did some research, looked at some pictures of food and read some reviews. I respond to the email. Charlene and I talked about the "No Pork" Menu, the # of people, budget, time, place, date etc. She knew exactly what I wanted and even threw in some ideas, which I loved because "THIS IS WHAT SHE LOVES TO DO" ! I actually hired her to do a 2 day drop-off service. She offered to give me a lil discount for hiring her for both events, which was very considerate. Day1: Friday 01/13/17 Menu for 20 INCLUDED: PREPARATION, DELIVERY, COMPLETE SETUP OF MAIN DISH, APPETIZERS, SIDE DISHES , PLASTIC SILVER SERVING UTENSILS , ETC. BBQ PULLED CHICKEN SLIDERS ** BBQ BEEF MEATBALLS ** BBQ BEEF HOT LINKS ** **ALL SERVED W/HOMEMADE HICKORY BROWN SUGAR BBQ SAUCE HOMEMADE COLE SLAW BEEFY BAKED BEANS W/BELL PEPPERS & ONIONS GARDEN SALAD W/TOMATOES, CUCUMBERS W/ CROUTONS ON THE SIDE. RANCH AND ITALIAN DRESSINGS SLIDER SIZED SWEET BUNS & HOT DOG BUNS FOR BEEF LINK Let me 1st say: Everyone devoured the Links!!! Meatballs were so yummy. BBQ Chicken sliders melted in your mouth. The homemade BBQ sauce was finger licking' good and we even had extra containers. The beefy baked beans were just that, beefy and amazing. Salad is just what we wanted, something fresh. Everything was so Delicious !!!! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Day2: Saturday Birthday Dinner 01/14/17 We opted to have the caters stay n help out, which was additional fee and well worth it. J'Nae & Derrick were their names, and were also the same two who did drop off on Friday. Lets just say about 30 minutes into the dinner we all became family!! They were very helpful and had great energy about them. (Another reason I clicked with Char) any who.... Menu for 20 INCLUDED: FULL SERVICE W/SILVER/GOLD ROLL TOP CHAFERS, PLATTERS, SERVING WARE & SERVERS FOR THREE (3) HRS. WHICH WILL INCLUDE SETUP, SERVICE & COMPLETE CLEANUP. SMOTHERED CHICKEN IN SOUTHERN WINE GRAVY FRIED CATFISH FILETS W/BOTTLE OF HOT SAUCE & TARTAR SAUCE MACARONI & CHEESE BLACK EYED PEAS W/SMOKED TURKEY SEASONING MIXED GREENS W/SMOKED TURKEY SEASONING HOMESTYLE CORNY BREAD TWO (2) DOZEN RED VELVET CUPCAKES W/VANILLIA FROSTING MmMmMMMmmm Catfish and Greens were "To Die":) and everyone wished there was more!! (greedy people lol) Sad but my mouth is watering writing this!! OK The Smothered Chicken was moist and well seasoned. I should of had rice for the kids & others who like it :) You can tell the Mac -n- Cheese was a family recipe as it was so YUMMY! I loved the black eye peas, they were perfectly cooked. The corney bread was different, I'd admit, but all the adults enjoyed it. It had real corn in it!! The picky kids would of preferred regular Jiffy from the box, with a ton of butter LOL. I'm so mad I didn't get a chance to have a Red Velvet Cupcake tho , By the time I turned around they were gone. I guess I should of known... hehe I was told they were so moist and frosting was perfect, not too sweet ! I'D LIKE TO PERSONALLY THANK YOU SO MUCH CHEF CHAR!!! I appreciate you, J'Nae & Derrick !!! This was my 1st event and far from the last. Can't wait till our next event or SUPER BOWL Party for our Team @ your house :) !! I can't say enough about your professionalism , as well as J'Nae & Derrick , your reasonable rates, willing to work with me & stay in contact every step of the way. The food and service was impeccable. BUT Let me say your customer service and positive energy is supreme! I am so sorry I wasn't able to take any photos :( I'm sure someone in our group has some and if so ill add them later..... TY

I had an evening party with approximately 35 people. Sin City BBQ arrived about an hour (5 pm) before the event and began the set-up. My quest, many of which were from Texas and they know a lot about BBQ and Brisket were extreme judges of quality BBQ. Well Steve and his help won the critics over. Everybody loved the entire spread. I got compliments that evening and days later. People asked for brochures and they really liked Steve's demeanor. Excellent Chef/Caterer. I will use Sin City BBQ again for my next BBQ party!!!!

I hired Chef Marckende Pierre to do an in-home private chef & cooking lesson combo for my dad's 75th birthday. Chef Pierre created a fusion menu, he arrived early, and he prepared a fantastic meal. Marckende and my dad talked about all the different cooking methods, and my mom (who is a picky eater) said that she loved it. I have never hired a personal chef before. I feel like I stumbled upon a treasure. I would totally hire Chef Pierre again, and I would recommend him to a friend in a heartbeat

It was magical - Chef Jeff Mauro showed up at our front door with two massive coolers and an arsenal of specialty chef supplies. Our kitchen became his playground as he turned every burner on high and let the four course festivities begin. Our daughter, who'd worked as a server in Jeff's Jam Restaurant for the summer, convinced Chef to cook dinner with her in our home before she went away to school. All I can say is WOW - we were in for an unexpected off-the-charts treat! We have been lucky enough to spend time seeking out exceptional dining experiences in Chicago, NYC & Paris from finding the perfect pancake to seeking out Michelin Star chefs going out on their own...and nothing compared to this evening. Chef Mauro is one of those people who's born to be a chef. His innate passion for food and commitment to detail shined with every course he crafted. Truly I didn't know food could taste so phenomenal. For the first course, Chef used ingredients from our garden to create an unbelievable heirloom tomato and mozzarella salad. For the second course, he prepared poached sea bass atop a bed of crispy green apple slaw. For the third course, Chef sliced and plated duck a l'orange besides a pillow of quinoa, topped with a poached quail egg and peppercorn garnish. And for course four, Chef seared the most tender venison medallions, accompanied by a house-made sauce and a sweet corn salad. Despite my course by course description, no words can do a night with Chef Mauro justice. It was so much fun. Chef engaged us every step of the way. He enlisted us in building the works of art that became our plates for each course. He paired wine with each course and described the "do's and don'ts" of cooking techniques and flavor pairings. And he created a truly unforgettable experience. 10/10 would recommend highly!

Southern Kitchen catered our Corporate Lunch. The price was reasonable. They were attentive and quick to respond. Their chefs created a custom menu item for two people with dietary restrictions. They gave us options and we picked what worked best for us. And lastly, most importantly, the food was great and I highly recommend them!

About

I am Lori Franklin, an accomplished chef with a great sense of humor and sunny disposition who is looking for clients with similar interests and attitudes with whom to make myself a valuable and trustworthy addition. Firstly, I bring with me an ability to prepare virtually any cuisine. Cooking has always been my first joy in life. Chefs play a vital role in preparing a variety of delicious dishes, soups, salads, snacks, side dishes and desserts with quality and health embedded in each dish. There are various roles and responsibilities assigned to food service staff. Among this, chefs and cooks take the responsibility of making a variety dishes. Chefs also take the responsibility of maintaining inventory and thereby, take the task of ordering food materials and any items needed for cooking. Whatever may be the roles and responsibilities, my primary aim as a chef is to prepare and present each dish, making sure it is appealing, delicious and also nutritious. Over my career, I have consistently been successful in building and maintaining client relationships, effective time management and exceptional customer service. My epicurean delights are created with a true passion for the total effect, both in taste and visual presentation. The proof is, indeed in the pudding or the pie, mousse or flan -- all the time communicating through my meals. I feel a great chef must possess attributes, namely good sense of taste and smell for food, creativity to bring out new dishes, efficient management skills to keep work organized, as well as good communication skills. My work is my enjoyment!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to hire a caterer?

Catering prices depend mainly on how fancy you want the food and service to be and how many guests you’ll have. When you’re first looking to hire a caterer for your event, consider how many guests you’ll have and your total food and drink budget. The national average for event catering is $340, but catering prices can range into the thousands depending on your menu, guest count, and service.

Event catering is a broad term that covers everything from fully prepared, ready-to-eat food that the hosts plate and serve themselves to full-service, multicourse meals, including rental of linens, glassware and other items, with service staff organized by the catering company. Usually a caterer will determine cost based on the type of event you’re having, how many guests will attend, the level of service you desire, and what type of menu you’d like to have. For example, if you have a set catering budget, say $1,500, and you plan to have 50 people attend, that means you have $30 per person for food. If you have the same budget with 100 people, you have $15 per person for food. In this way, the number of people you want to attend your event and the level of food you want to serve them determines how much catering will cost.

How much should catering cost per person?

Catering prices can range from about $10 per guest on the low end to $150 or more per person on the high end. Catering costs represent the quality of food, presentation, variety, ingredients and service. But catering prices are more than the cost to cook the food that will be at your party; they also include the cost for the company to do business. Here is a simple breakdown of catering prices:

  • Menu: The food you serve your guests will directly affect the price per person. Organic ingredients, complex recipes, elaborate presentations, or high-ticket items like lobster or filet mignon all add to the cost.
  • Service: Buffet, family style, plated dinners — how you serve the food affects the cost per person. For example, a true plated meal can cost about twice the price of a staff-assisted buffet because of staffing costs. Hiring waiters, bartenders and cleanup crew will all be calculated into the per-person catering price.
  • Drinks: Providing beverages and alcoholic drinks for guests greatly increases your catering budget. Hosting an open bar can cost as much per person as the meal.
  • Rentals: Seating, plates, glassware, etc., will all have an effect on the cost per person for catering. For example, a plastic conference table that seats 10 costs about $6 to rent on average, while a wooden farmhouse table is about $80 to rent on average.
  • Business costs: Any catering cost will also include the cost for the company to do business such as insurance, employee wages, commercial kitchen space and more.
