Introduction: There is no room for compromise, when it comes to writing, research, and editing. Everyone wants their final effort to be polished, stylistically appropriate for their audience, and to put the project manager in the best light possible. What makes my work stand out is my love of language, words, and writing, and the care that I therefore bring to its craft. The breadth of my experiences, from working in the tech world, to preaching every Sunday, to telling stories, gives voice to whatever kind of project you are looking to have completed, in whatever format you want your story told. Working with words is less a job, than it is a craft. As any craftperson does, I approach the work with both respect and care. It is enormously satisfying to complete a piece of writing, and know that it is the right piece for its targeted audience, whether it's a web site, an article, a tweet, or helping another writer polish their work.

I am proud to have published Ellen Cooper's essay "Little Holies" as one of the cornerstone pieces of the December/Christmas 2011 edition of the Unitarian Universalist Christian Fellowship's journal The Good News. That issue including her essay is available at http://uuchristian.org/GoodNews2/goodnews_dec_11.pdf

Extremely creative writer, anything from making dry technical descriptions come to life to story telling and imaginative narrative. Techno wiz, fast and efficient in web research of anything. Highly recommend. (No experience with editing, but I'm sending her some this week.)

Ellen was lead researcher on the project to recover a series of annual essay-lectures delivered by Unitarian and Unitarian Universalist ministers starting in 1820. Thanks to her leadership and hands-on work, we were able to recover half of the essays, many of which were hiding in obscure publications or in library archives.

Please don't hesitate to contact me with questions!

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

A voracious reader since childhood, writing has always come easily to me. Years of additional education in various writing styles, as well as the work of researching and editing seven years' worth of sermons, workshops, and classes, has only served to reinforce the sense that words and writing are among my closest companions. I adapted easily and eagerly to the digital world, writing blogs and crafting social media with an understanding that each platform deserves a slightly different approach. At the heart of all of it - technical writing, blogging, web content, social media, articles - is story. At the heart of me, is a storyteller.

  • Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

Recently, I proofread a novel that is in line to move from e-publishing to actual book form. It was a joy to make my way through the story, making the minute corrections that allow readers to stay engrossed in the story itself, and not get sidelined by the occasional grammatical error. The author was particularly pleased with the turnaround time, and the attention to detail without altering his voice at all.
