Soooo, I would give them a 5 if we didn’t have a glitch in scheduling and no one showed up on the day I planned. Was it my fault? I don’t think so, but anyway their work was superior. Woody came and installed a ceiling fan, fixed a door, assembled 2 patio heaters and a bistro set. Then George came and fastidiously sanded and applied teak oil to 14 pieces of outdoor teak furniture! It was painstaking and in the sun for a total of 12 hrs over 2 days- unbelievable work ethic. (I did offer shade and food and water)...Woody dropped in and fixed a broken chair, so I can only say the greatest things about the work that was done. Better communication would have gotten them a 5... maybe 4.8?? Use them, just communicate with Michael and not just his guys.....see Michael, I’m actually a pretty nice person.
We hired Jerry to repair and texture our kitchen drywall and he did a great job and was very reasonably priced. We are happy with his work.
We recently remodeled our home, and with antiques dating back to when my husbands family migrated here from Denmark four generations ago we did quite a bit of research on moving companies. My husband called Bob and set a date and time to come move the antiques to the garage. They were here at the exact time, with proper equipment and packing blankets to move the heavy pieces. We can't say enough good about how well Bob's company handled moving our antiques! Once the remodel was complete they came back and moved everything right back in for us with the same care and respect they showed the first time! I must say, we asked for and received quotes from large companies but, we don't think they could have done a better job moving our beloved family treasures. Bob is a pleasure to work with and if we ever need help again, we're calling Above The Rim. You won't go wrong if you decide to use this little company. They might be small but, they're mighty! Thank you so much Bob!
I hired Tony to build a large covered patio in my backyard. From the first day I met him, he was very professional and friendly. I shopped around for several estimates and his was definitely the most affordable. He gave me the best pricing and the quality of the work was excellent! The project was completed in the designated time and my patio looks great. I would not hesitate to recommend him to family and friends and I will definitely keep him in mind for future projects.
Edwin was quick to respond to my request for a quote. He agreed to maintain my lawn and sprinkler system for a very reasonable rate. I look forward to a long business relationship.
Alan isnt your average Joe handyman; hes a one man construction crew. Of the half dozen or so replies I received from my Thumbtack inquiry, he was the only one who specifically addressed my needs. My project, a kitchen remodel. Alan removed old cabinets, counter etc. Installed new, in a new design arrangement, which included cutting a section of wall. Additionally he installed a new sink and plumbed to allow a double basin where a single basin was, new over - range microwave and laminate flooring in three areas. Hes punctual, consciences and highly qualified.
GAIL WILLEY LANDSCAPING: We recently moved to a wonderful house overlooking Sparks. Although built ten years ago, this property had minimal landscaping, probably due to the slopes and rocky terrain. To put it mildly, we had some challenges. We had watched Gail Willey Landscaping personnel perform a landscape project near our former house overlooking the University. That project also involved slopes, building retaining walls, etc. We were sold on Gail Willey Landscaping long before we contacted them for our own project. Our project was done in two phases and involved construction of three natural stone walls and reconstruction or extension of two more walls. A very elegant stone stairway was designed and built through three of the walls, linking a pool area out through a wrought iron gate and down to meet up with the entrance driveway. Gail Willey Landscaping leveled much of our lot, making previously ugly, unusable yard area into graded, level parking and provided an area for our dogs to run. In the process, the Gail Willey Landscaping staff provided for run-off water by hooking our roof downspouts to drains, connecting drains and routing the water around the property. A Phase One paver project provided a must see walkway from the front of the garage around to the back of the house and a patio area in the back. During Phase Two, pavers were put on each side of an existing long narrow cement driveway to make it look wider and more elegant. To finish off our project, Gail Willey Landscaping constructed a wrought iron fence and lighting Our project team was headed by Tom Schuster. Tom created detailed drawings with his recommendations. These were always presented to us together with the projected cost detailed out by component. He spent as much time as we wanted discussing the plans, adding items, deleting items and discussing the cost options of doing things one way versus another. As a tribute to Gail Willey and to Tom, in a project of this magnitude, we did not have many surprises. Dimas, Nelson and Pedro were our Supervisors for the various parts of the projects. What great people to work with. Any questions we had we answered fully to our satisfaction, immediately. No detail was too small for them to stop what they were doing and walk completely through our issue. Every member of the Gail Willey team who worked on our project were very congenial, easy to be around. We had almost daily meetings with Tom, either in person or via telephone or email, to review progress. Anytime we were set to move to another part of the project, we met and walked completely through that phase, many times with tape measure in hand. This allowed us, Tom and the rest of the crew, to reach a complete understanding of what we wanted to accomplish up front and made the execution part easier for all of us. We will most certainly use Gail Willey Landscaping again on any type of major landscaping project and would recommend them highly to anyone.
Steve Figueroa had done an addition to our house. We love the quality of his work very detail oriented, got the addition done in a reasonable amount of time. He had also done some work on our church building and again the work he done was excellent and done in a good amount of time. I would definitely use him again to do any type of construction to my house.
Our first experience with Troy was in 2009 when he worked on our bedroom extension and remodel of the master bath at our home in Grand Terrace, CA. The entire job took about 6 weeks as we had to remove a patio and deck in the process. From start to finish, Troy was professional in his work and very easy to talk to and make decisions with. He did an excellent job with the framing and roofing as well as the installation of new bathroom fixtures and tile work, both in the tub area and the flooring. If there was something we questioned or asked to have done differently (i.e., taking back a bathtub to replace it with a larger, soaking tub), Troy was always accommodating and happy to do what we wanted. When that project was completed, Troy framed and installed a new deck and sidewalk in our backyard.Over the next four years, we had more projects that we called Troy for help with and he was always ready and willing to come take a look, give a bid, and tackle the work. We had him install attic fans in the house, make and install shutters on the front windows, and paint our house. The work was always done to our satisfaction and we miss being able to call him for work we'd like to have done as he is no longer in southern CA.We highly recommend Troy Malley as a professional handyman whose work is exemplary. We started with a smaller 25 Sq Ft update of toilet and flooring in a guest bathroom. Mario did a great job. Very professional, listened to my ideas and was willing to do whatever we wanted. Job was done in 2 days. We are ready to work with him again.
My job was the installation of crown molding and some millwork - specifically a dining room built in unit with open cabinets and closed cupboards on the bottom. I gave him a picture and the dimensions I needed and it turned out great. I had to make a couple of additions because I forgot to have him put shelves in the bottom cupboards - but I learned "by doing" - ha. He was fast, the unit was completed on time, and he was very responsive when I called him.
Jim did an excellent job completing a long list of repairs after a property inspection. He made my clients very happy and was always quick to respond to phone calls. He is a gem.
