Introduction: Hi my name is Olivia Jo and I’m a native Korean offering Korean classes to English speakers. I have taught a lot of international students Korean and English in the States, South Korea and Vietnam. So I confidently know how to organize the strategies based on different types of students. Every single class will be personalized since I understand everyone has different goals, interest, preferences and pace.
My goal of teaching is not only helping students speak the languages better but also having lots of fun!
From how to make natural sentences to figures of speech in Korean, in order to help my students enjoy speaking and listening to Korean, I have used a variety of resources such as media, movie, lyrics of K-pop to practice conversations with my students.

I have been taking lessons from Olivia for about two months and I already feel like I have learned so much. I always look forward to my lessons as they are interesting and informing. Olivia is so easy to talk to and is a great resource for my Korean language learning journey. I really enjoy learning about the culture as I learn the language and she makes sure to include a cultural aspect in every lesson. The materials she provides are easy to understand and good for learning different concepts. I also like that you can specify something you want to learn and she will have it prepared for the next lesson. I really recommend taking lessons with her :)

Korean Lessons
Learning Korean with Olivia is always a blast. In the first class, she asked what sort of approach I'd like to take to learn the language. I told her that I enjoy learning through conversations so we would always begin our classes with some basic conversational sentences (which I enjoy so so much!). I'm the type of person who can get overzealous and would sometimes lose focus but despite that, Olivia had structured her teachings in a way that not only would keep me on track but also continue to keep me interested and curious. On the plus side, she's a fun person to talk to and she has a very sweet personality. Highly recommended!

We live in Washington DC and we have plenty of language instructors and institutions here but Olivia Jo really blew us away! I love working with Olivia! I've been studying with her pretty intensely (3-4 times a week) for over a month now to prep for a move to Seoul. I had almost zero knowledge of Korean before starting our sessions and it's really helped! She's a great teacher - explains well when I have questions and spilts the lessons effectively depending on what I need to focus on. She gives homework as I request it and finds fun ways to make her points and teach (children's YouTube videos, songs, BTS, etc). She makes me feel at ease and less stressed about taking on a whole new language. I really enjoy our sessions and plan to continue working with her when I'm in Korea as well.

I’ve studied with Olivia 선생님 for about 7 months now. And absolutely love it! Thanks to her, I got way better understandings of not only language but also Korean culture, history, food, music and more! She makes classes so much fun with lots of materials and her passion helps and encourages me a lot. Every Thursday became my favorite day of the week. Plus, I didn’t expect my speaking skills could be really improved like this much in 7 months and I can see that my goal to speak Korean fluently on my pace is coming true little by little everyday!

- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Since I make sure every class will be personalised for each individual, I’d like to get to know each other first so that I can get some ideas how I’d make the study plans for each student.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I used to be an English teacher in Korea and Vietnam and started offering Korean classes for English speakers two years ago. And I’m loving it.

I’m very fond of learning languages and have lived in 6 different countries so far. From my experiences, I was able to get some great practical tips and tricks and what works the best. So I’d love to share my tips with people who have passion in languages like me
