FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Please contact us for pricing details. The rate is based on many factors including location, subject, in-person vs. internet lessons, etc.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Most parents first call or email to discuss the type of help the students needs. Based on this conversation and instructor availability, I send the parent a bio of a teacher who I think would be a good fit. The parent and teacher arrange a time that is mutually convenient to meet for lessons. Most students meet once or twice a week. At the first lesson, we like to meet with both the student and the parents (if possible) to discuss goals and the tutoring process. For ACT/SAT preparation, we introduce the student to the test, take a look at results from any past tests he or she has taken, and together, we figure out where improvements can be made. Each student is unique, so we try to address the student's personal concerns about the test or subject he or she needs help with. We work from there to achieve the desired results.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I had top scores when I took the ACT and SAT, including perfect scores on the SAT II Math II subject test, the ACT math section, and the ACT science section. I went through the test preparation process myself and understand the stress that students are often experiencing related to standardized tests. I hold a Master of Fine Arts in writing. I was mentored by some of the best writers in Los Angeles, including Academy Award nominee Leonard Schrader. This background has given me a unique way of approaching standardized tests, writing, and the college application essay. I share this perspective with my students and also with my instructors. I trained with many different tutoring companies over the years before I started my own business. I also have instructors who have expertise in many other subjects. Some are science experts who teach chemistry and physics, some are reading specialists who work with elementary students, and some are certified teachers. My instructors and I continue to develop new methods and tools to give our students.
