FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
In 2002 my family bought some land and wanted to build a commercual horse boarding facility. As soon as we started framing, i was hooked! I tried the desk job routine and could not stand it. I also tried retail and was not challenged. So, I decided to take an AutoCAD and architecture class, studied some construction principles and got started. However, no carpenter or contractor knows everything, so I love working on projects where my skills are challenged and I learn a new way to do my job!
- What types of customers have you worked with?
I work exclusively with residential customers. Some have done their research and know what I'm going to tell them before I say it, others just know what they want the finished project to look like, and some just want it to "look nice." Fortunately, I have enough experience that I can either do what you want or figure out what you want. So, don't be afraid to boss me around or ask for my guidance!
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
A customer needed their garage roof replaced before the winter. We started the project just as the big snowstorms of 2015 hit. Every monday during the project we had to shovel the roof off. instead of telling him it had to wait until spring and risk structural damage, we did the right thing. We put on our harnesses and replaced the roof. If we didn't do it, no one was going to do it al that point.
