I have been told "I can't believe that voice came out of that body" and "I heard your version of a song I loved and I knew I needed you to play it at my wedding." But the reason I get repeat business and referrals is because of my professionalism. I work out all the details before the day of the event and show up early so that everything runs smoothly. I provide my own sound and bring backup items just in case of any issues. On the day of your event, all you should have to worry about is having a wonderful time. I contracted with Rorie Kelly to perform music at two events on Staten Island, NY sponsored by a non-profit organization. She was extremely responsive to performing in two different types of environments (one very large all-ages festival and one more intimate performance for a 21+ audience). She was professional throughout the contracting process and at her actual performances. She arrived early and was responsive to all venue and organization requests. The audience loved Rorie's performances on both occasions. You can tell that Rorie is able to genuinely connect with audiences to create a special experience for everyone listening, regardless of the venue. The non-profit organization and members of the audience have both requested Rorie's return for future events, which she has done under another individual's coordination. I would highly recommend Rorie Kelly as a performer at any type of event you may be putting together, she is a joy work with and her performances are wonderful!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Don't be afraid to ask questions! In addition to sounding good, professionalism and experience are things you should be looking for in a musical entertainer. It's best to nail down details (like performance time and length, special song requests, technical needs for sound equipment and where set up will take place, etc) well in advance of your event so that there is no confusion or stress on the day of. A professional will be happy to discuss these details with you at length so that you both feel comfortable with the final agreement.
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
A great deal of practice and preparation goes into what performing musicians do. For every performance, there is also hours of behind-the-scenes work that includes learning and practicing new material, maintaining our skill on our instruments (including vocal chords) through daily exercises and preparations to make sure our gear and instruments stay in good condition and that the set runs smoothly. Musicians are craftspeople - know that we are putting in even more energy than you see to make sure we sound great for you.
