Read reviews that mention:
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I have a standard price which covers my time and travel within 45 minutes of my home in Southern Westchester County NY, the preparation of the personalized ceremony (which can run to numerous hours of emails back-and-forth, plus my creative and writing time), and my expertise and license to marry. If a separate rehearsal is requested (which is getting less and less popular), a separate fee is requested for that.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
As said earlier, I try very hard to meet with each prospective couple so they get a good idea of me and I can determine what they are seeking in an officiant. I provide examples of several different types of ceremonies, different levels of formality, etc. and suggest some readings from Holy Scripture or poetry they might consider including. We discuss family background, spiritual/religious interest, and the details of the bridal party, size of family and guest list, etc. I then offer thoughts on the details of the ceremony itself (procession, inclusion of little children, music, sand or red ribbon or other rituals to include, etc.). If our meeting goes well, they hire me:)
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I was a teacher and youth minister for several years, then spent decades in church-related public relations work. I'm very comfortable with public speaking, helping to 'shape' ceremonies and rituals. I suppose as wedding trends come and go I'll adapt some for couples as they request them, and enjoy personalizing the traditional ceremony quite well for each couple.
