Introduction: With New York Baseball Training, you will get matched with an instructor that best meets your needs based on goals and location. All of my instructors have either professional or high level collegiate experience on the field as players and coaches. I have coaches that cover Brooklyn, Staten Island, Queens, Manhattan, The Bronx, Westchester, Connecticut, and Nassau/Suffolk Counties. We provide personal instruction for players of all ages. Private lessons can be tailored to fit the needs of any player! I am a former NCAA Division II pitcher, and current Varsity Baseball Coach and Athletic Director at Millennium High School. I am the Brooklyn Director at Home Run Baseball Camp, and I am also a Physical Education teacher at Millennium Brooklyn High School in Park Slope. I have been trained and certified in AED, CPR, First Aid, and CDC Concussion, as well as trained by the Nest Program to help the needs of children with ASD. For students in high school or younger, I teach all aspects of baseball. This means that I will work with any position, batting, pitching, fielding, or whatever your needs are. For college athletes, I prefer to only work with pitchers, but I can gladly refer you to a coach who can handle your specific needs. During your lesson we can address specific pitching issues, such as velocity, control, movement, secondary pitches, and conditioning for higher level pitchers. For beginner to intermediate level baseball players, we will go through the key fundamentals and pinpoint what specifically should be addressed in order to help the athlete improve themselves the most. A sample lesson for a little leaguer would be one-hour long and flows as follows: - Dynamic Warm Up- 5 minutes - Water Break-1 minute - Throwing Progressions- 10 minutes - Water Break- 1 minute - Batting Practice Round 1- 15 minutes - Water Break- 1 minutes - Batting Practice Round 2- 10 minutes - Water Break- 1 minutes - Position Specific Drills (Groundballs/Flyballs)- 10 minutes - Water Break- 1 minute - Review Skills Learned-5 minutes A sample pitching lesson would be one-hour long and flows as follows: * Dynamic warm up - 8 minutes * Throw to get loose - 5 minutes * Basic mechanics - 7 minutes * Water break - 2 minutes * Assess specific issues - 10 minutes * Water break - 1 minute * Throw off mound - 10 minutes * Water break - 2 minutes * (If arm is tired) Mechanics review and drills - 8 minutes * (If arm is ok) Long toss - 8 minutes * Conditioning - 12 minutes Individual Rates: $80 Full Lesson (60 Minutes) $50 Mini Lesson (30 Minutes) Small Group Rates: Same as above plus additional $20 per athlete Example- 2 Athletes $100 ($80+$20) 3 Athletes $120 ($80+$40) Update: We now do birthday parties! Turn any baseball addict's birthday into a baseball birthday party! This is great, especially for ages 7 - 11, but it's fun for all ages. My services include: - batting practice and instruction for every child - ground balls practice and instruction for every child - fly balls practice and instruction for every child - safe, friendly game with birthday boy as team captain! Brian has been great for my 9-year old son, who looks forward to each of their sessions. They generally have worked together once a week, covering the basics (hitting stroke, throwing mechanics, defense). Brian has been an enormous help in what could otherwise be a very tough season ... much appreciated!

Jack is a great learner!

FAQs

  • Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

I have been working with a great 9 yr old boy with very little baseball experience. He initially just wanted to be able to throw, catch, and hit better. After a few sessions, I recommended that he give pitching a shot. He has improved so much that he struck out the side in his first pitching appearance ever!

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Make sure that you know what your coach's baseball accomplishments are. You should also know what experience they have with coaching. Last but not least, who are you trusting with your children? I am a former college and current semi-pro player. I am a current high school coach. I am a DOE Certified Physical Education Teacher. I am a current youth baseball camp coach
