Introduction: My love of teaching has grown with over 15 years of experience, working with students of all ages and backgrounds, in public and private schools, as well as in my own studio. I graduated from Oberlin Conservatory with a degree in Jazz Percussion Performance where I studied with jazz legend Billy Hart, among others. As a performer I've toured widely in the US, Canada, Europe, Australia and New Zealand, and have also made national television appearances on Jimmy Fallon and Late Night with Seth Meyers. My recording credits are extensive as well. I learn a great deal from my students -- perhaps more than they learn from me. It's an exciting process to watch a student address challenges and meet them in a way that's a reflection of their own unique creative sensibility. Please don't hesitate to get in touch with any questions. I look forward to hearing from you!

I am a fairly active drummer, playing in a few versatile bands and projects. I also, embarrassingly, have not taken a lesson in over 15 years, so coming back to lessons was a little daunting. Noah met me where I was at and asked me what I'd like to focus on. He helped me reconsider and reconfiguring some basics, such as setup and posture. He also guided me to places I didn't know I needed to go, especially regarding technique which had fallen to the wayside over the years. Noah is willing to help with the specifics of your style and projects, as well as general technique that will improve your overall playing, thinking, timing, and feel. He provided me with useful tools and videos to study and practice on my own. At my age and skill level, a little "polishing" was exactly what I needed! I look forward to working with Noah more in the future.

Noah is such a fun, patient wonderful teacher. I have absolutely no prior experience in music and started from scratch - Noah was so patient as I was getting the hang of it. He has a great combo of providing a solid foundation of technique and then letting you jam and play and have fun. I love too that he's a true artist, he's so creative and a touring drummer, he wants you to succeed and play as much as possible. Highly recommend Noah as your next drum teacher!

Noah is a fantastic teacher! His approach to teaching seamlessly incorporates technique, style analysis and listening and after every lesson I feel more empowered to explore my instrument. Noah is also very responsive to any questions I have throughout the week about our lesson. He is a very caring and nurturing instructor.

Noah has the technique, the industry experience, and the refined ear for music that any drummer hopes to harness… lucky for you he has patience, empathy, and earnest desire to teach it!

Noah is a skilled and inspiring teacher. I grew up playing drums but hadn't had a kit for many years - with his guidance I've gotten back in the rhythm of practicing, and I've learned lots of great new records to play along to as a bonus. Highly recommend :)

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

    $75/hour, $65/45 minutes, $55/30 minutes.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

When I meet a new student I ask them what music speaks to them the most in order to gauge what will motivate and inspire them. We then discuss their goals and a clear plan for how we can achieve them together. If a student is young then I incorporate a sense of play and discovery into the initial lesson (and all lessons for that matter) to keep them engaged and having fun!

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I graduated from Oberlin Conservatory with a degree in Jazz Percussion Performance in 2011 and have been performing and recording as a professional drummer since. I have been teaching for over 15 years in a variety of contexts with students of all ages, allowing me to develop an effective and dynamic approach.
