Introduction: I've been teaching piano for 11 years from beginners to advanced students. My main goal as a teacher is to shape top performers unifying technique and musicianship. I focus on Jazz (improvisation, jazz harmony) and Classical Music (repertoire, reading music and technique) for beginners, intermediate and advanced players. I teach both in Spanish and English. During my experience, I have prepared students for LaGuardia High School and taught master classes in the US and abroad. About Santiago L. I'm a pianist and composer from Argentina, now living in Brooklyn since 2014. I hold a Masters in Jazz Performance from New York University, plus a Jazz and Classical degree from different Argentinian academic institutions. My experience as a teacher includes working as Adjunct Piano Instructor at NYU (2015-2016) and masterclasses at Jacksonville University, Maine Conservatory and University of Las Américas (Ecuador). I also have been teaching privately since 2010 in New York and Buenos Aires, Argentina. As a performer, I have released six albums as a bandleader and numerous albums as a sideperson. I recently performed at Weill Auditorium Hall as part of "Sophia Rosoff Presents" Concert Series. In addition, I play in different jazz and creative music projects as a sideman. My teaching method seeks to shape top performers unifying technique and musicianship. In that regard, the lessons are divided into technique exercises, music-skills (sight-reading, music theory, improvisation) and repertoire. For beginner students I always start with a more intuitive relationship to the instrument: instead of teaching how to read or some music theory concepts, I teach songs that the student already now, trying to play them by ear. I truly believe that the first connection to the instrument must be the ears and the sound rather than the notes on a piece of paper. That being said, I also teach how to read music and the basics of music theory. For the intermediate and advanced students I always tailor the lessons according the student needs, whatever that would be: more technique, more resources for jazz improvisation/performance, better understanding of music composition, counterpoint, harmony, etc.

Santi is an incredibly professional, capable, and compassionate teacher. I had some hesitation due to childhood piano lessons that weren't exactly fun, but after getting curious about the piano again I reached out to Santi for lessons. I'm so glad I did. He's a great listener and never got frustrated with me, yet he's clearly incredibly passionate and is a fantastic teacher. I can't recommend him enough.

It's so wonderful working with Santiago!! I'm a complete beginner and after many years of hesitation I finally started taking piano lessons. It's so much fun and every week I am looking forward to our next lesson. Santiago is a great teacher, very patient and can explain everything in a clear way.

I really love Santiago’s lessons. He works very well with me. I contacted him because I wanted to play a particular song and so far I’ve learned more than I’ve ever imagined. I will be continuing lessons beyond the show for sure.

My son has been taking weekly piano lessons with Santiago for about 3 years and we cannot believe the improvement. He started from zero and today he’s playing and reading music. I can't thank you enough Santiago!

Santiago is a great teacher. My daughter has been studying with him for the last 3 years and made a huge progress: from a total beginner to being able to read and play music.
