Introduction: Having a Music Education Bachelor's Degree, I learned how to tailor each lesson to a student's needs. I tend to focus on musicality, which is what makes a piece enjoyable, so that the student will want to practice. I cover posture, breathing, tone production, technical foundations, ear training, and note reading, and most importantly practice strategies. I give weekly goals to focus on, so that students know exactly what and how to practice. I love connecting with people, and passing on my love of music. I like breaking things down, and sharing in student's successes.

Melanie has been teaching my daughter for a year now. Melanie is not only professional and punctual, but pleasant also a joy to be around. She is very communicative with my husband and me; letting us know where my daughter is excelling or needing improvement. Her passion for music is contagious. Melanie creates a comfortable environment, not only is my daughter comfortable and excited to learn from Melanie, but we also feel that our daughter is safe with Melanie and receiving the best instruction possible. Melanie provides my daughter clear instruction on what to practice during the week. She's very talented, and we love to hear her model. My daughter has improved significantly, and more importantly loves studying music with Melanie.

I would highly recommend Melanie. She's a patient teacher and very professional. She taught my daughter and she improved dramatically. My daughter enjoys her lessons with Melanie and she always complemented on how well she plays the flute.

$35 for 30 minutes $50 for 45 minutes $70 for an hour
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I normally call to find a time and location that works. I ask if the student has any specific goals in mind, or any competitions coming up, or any pieces they want to learn. We take it from there!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been teaching flute lessons since 2005. I have a Bachelor's degree in Music Education and Performance, and a Master's Degree in Flute Performance.
