Introduction: I think vocal exploration is a tool that can build confidence and strengthen relationships whether you consider yourself a singer or not. I have been singing and learning about the human vocal instrument for over 20 years and can confidently provide a safe space for you to explore your natural sound. Due to Covid-19 I am only conducting lessons virtually, but that means we can practice and play no matter where you are! All you need is a computer or smart phone!

Kayla is a knowledgeable, intuitive and gentle voice teacher. In just one lesson she picked up nuances in my voice and emotions that were begging to surface. She encouraged me to lean into those feelings and let the song emerge from there, which gave so much more power to the lyrics and my singing. I highly recommend Kayla to take you on a vocal journey to deepen your emotionality and storytelling through singing.

I can finally enjoy singing again! Kayla's teaching style is experiential and personal. She doesn't just teach you how to sing, she allows you to find the uniqueness of your own voice. Her lessons have provided me with permission to try new things and let the work land in it's own time, allowing it be okay not to "get it" right away. Kayla's clarity of voice and communication make our singing lessons fun and valuable, even through an online platform. I highly recommend taking a lesson with Kayla! She has a lot of knowledge to offer...and I am no longer scared to use my voice!

Singing lessons with Kayla have been extremely informative and beneficial. She has taught me the proper way to breathe and control my voice, which has been a huge game changer for my vocals. It's been a pleasure working with Kayla as she's knowledgeable in her field, professional and provides a comfortable learning atmosphere. I would highly recommend Kayla without any reservation.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I'm currently offering a 10% discount on your next lesson after referring a friend and they have had their first lesson with me!

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I consider our vocal instrument to be an incredibly vulnerable and personal part of our human and spiritual self. It is important for me to have an understanding of how a person feels about their voice, on a superficial level as well as a deeper one.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have a Bachelors in Vocal Music Performance from Olivet College in Olivet, MI. I have been trained in Kristin Linklater Technique by Liz Eckert at Maggie Flanigan Studio in NYC. While there I was also trained in the Lloyd Williamson Technique for movement, and the Meisner Technique for acting. All of this was under the supervision and teachings of Charlie Sandlan, Karen Chamberlain, and Maggie Flanigan. My current private voice teacher is Jonathon Stancato of the "Inside Voice." Where I have learned techniques such as dark breath, the vocal string quartet, and even dabbled in some psychotropic breath tripping.
