I have a very old upright piano that had not been tuned for at least 15 years. When I tried playing it last week my dog kept hitting my elbow. I knew it was time to get it tuned. Kevin contacted me and we set an appointment conducive to my work schedule. He was able to come a bit earlier than our scheduled appointment time and called ahead to ask if was it was ok to come early. He seemed pleased that the piano was in fairly good condition because most this age aren’t and can’t be tuned. But he was able to tune it and I am enjoying playing again. And my dog is no longer nudging me when I play.

FAQs

• What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

  I charge $100 for a standard tuning. If your piano hasn't been tuned in a while it may need some extra attention. A pitch raise and tuning is $140. No surprises...any charges will be discussed before any work is done.

• What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

  I like to know what the piano owner is looking to do with the instrument, and what troubles or problems exist.

• What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

  I work for Illos pianos and apprenticed with George Miller, the piano technician for the Buffalo Philharmonic.
