FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I don't think it is complicated. I charge a consultation fee up front and then when hired I keep track of all hours spent on the project and bill accordingly. If I am putting out a lot of money purchasing items then I would request a retainer fee up front.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
You know, it is interesting you ask this. I guess I have a gift because whatever style I bring to the home it comes from within me and the clients style. Sometimes I always thought I was ahead of the times...I feel it before it is popular!!!
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I always had a flair for style. When my husband would be off traveling, I would be moving furniture around all the time. All of my friends always told me I should do this for my profession. I did some checking and asked one designer about the need for further education and she said, "either you have it or you don't. The books can't teach you what comes from your heart. You have the passion so you will do great." I truly believe this, I followed my heart and love every minute of what I do.
