What is a traditional Thai massage?

What are the different Swedish massage techniques?

  • Tapotement: Tapping, plucking, cupping and pounding. Tapotement movements can help improve blood circulation and cell rejuvenation, and also relax and release tight muscles.  
  • Vibration: Rocking, shaking and trembling movements. These motions can help muscles release.

Kevin arrived at the designated time on the nose. He was courteous yet unobtrusive. He asked for my preferences in terms of pressure, music, oil vs cream, scented or non-scented. I need massage for therapeutic purposes. I am prone to tight shoulders plus I have been playing a lot of tennis and my body was radiating pain. I was also fighting a stress headache. By the time he finished, I was literally in a different body. I had a deep tissue treatment and when it was too deep, he backed off, just enough. When I needed more pressure, he adjusted as well. I booked Eric two weeks ago for an initial session. I am a former dancer and remain very fitness/physically active and have a lean/muscular physique - so I needed someone who understands deep tissue for my body type. After an injury and physical therapy, I hit a plague with my recovery and my chiropractor recommended massage with stretch. I found Eric's profile online and I was impressed with his videos showing his technique, so decided to book a trial session. After consulting with me via txt on my injury, Eric recommended an approach that he felt would be best for my recovery. He suggested a floor/mat massage with stretch. I was hesitant at first, as I had never done a mat massage, but I felt comfortable with Eric's confident and reassuring explanation. The massage was painful...not because of Eric, but as I insisted he push me to regain flexibility. After a hot shower and good night's sleep, I could certainly feel some improvement. Fast forward, I booked Eric again last evening. We repeated the floor/mat massage with even deeper massage and longer stretches...it was again painful, but that was my request. Eric was very good about asking if the pain was too much and he intuitively knew when to stop the stretch. Even during the session, I could feel immediate pain relief after a technique was applied. After the massage, I took a hot shower, put lavender essential oil in my diffuser and slept for a solid 10 hours. I awoke this morning and I am totally pain free for the first time in 16 months. I am realistic that the pain will return, but I am confident it will be to a lesser extent. I can honestly say my body and I are addicted to Eric and I will be using him on a regular basis. He is an amazing therapist, has a gentle nurturing spirit and we share a common view on healing. I am blessed to have found him.
