"Naceel gave us the best price! We couldn't believe it!! You have to contact him and request him to see for yourself! Naceel gave us the best massage. I always get massages but I have to say this was the best massage! Today was my first time having the massage done at the comfort of my home. I wasn't sure how it would be. But the experience was great and privacy of my home. I was so relaxed and even took a nap after. It felt great that I didn't have to travel home. I was already home. Me and my mom got the massage. I am going to refer him to everyone. Again, no one can beat his price! He care about the clients and not the money. I wanted the massage very often and he told me based on my weight that I didn't need as much as I wanted the massage. Naceel will work with you individually and let you know how many sessions you would need for optimal health. He cares about his clients. He is fantastic!"

"I reached out to Ms. Collins to give my mom a much needed full body massage as she had recently injured her arm and back. Ms. Collins was very professional and arrived at our agreed time. Decided to go with the 60 minutes swedish massage and my mom felt amazingly relaxed and much better after. Ms. Collins brought the spa to us, which made booking an appointment convenient at an well marked price. First time experience was good and I will continue to use A.collins massage therapy for future massage needs."

"Yury was awesome! I've had massages before where I ask the massage therapist to work on certain areas and they never get to them, saying they ran out of time. Yury hit every problem area during my sports massage/deep tissue 90 minute session, saying, "Don't worry, we will do everything." It was phenomenal! I am training for the Philly marathon in two weeks, and I warm up, stretch, foam roll, etc but still so tight in hard to reach spots like inner legs. Yury also pointed out that my feet are a bit flat - something never brought to my attention, even by running store employees. This massage was the best pain. He was fun to work with; I was immediately put at ease and able to either not talk at all or laugh and joke with him, same level of comfort. Could not recommend him any higher!"

"Cynthia is a great human being and excellent at what he does. I recently had an injury and I am very funny trying out new massage therapists. Cynthia put me at ease and was able to not only help eliminate the pain but she also gave me a stretching regiment to prevent future injuries. I will definitely be reaching out to her for her services."

Such a relaxing experience....the massage, the aromatherapy, and just the overall energy that Nicky brings to every massage makes each appointment something I really look forward to every 3 weeks :) "

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is Thai massage?

Thai massage, also called Thai yoga massage, combines acupressure and assisted yoga postures. Thai massage is based on the flow of energy through the body and focuses on energy lines called “sen.” It doesn’t use oils or lotions and, instead of rubbing muscles, the massage therapist compresses, pulls, stretches and rocks the recipient’s body to promote the flow of energy through these sen. In this form of massage therapy, practitioners use their hands, knees, legs and feet to apply deep muscle compression and stretch the body. It’s often performed on a mat on the floor instead of on a massage table. Like most forms of massage, Thai massage is used to relieve stress, improve range of motion and enhance flexibility. Some people also use Thai massage to address a range of health issues, including:

  • Relieving tension headaches
  • Decreasing back pain
  • Reducing joint stiffness and pain
  • Stimulating circulation and lymphatic drainage
  • Boosting energy

Because a traditional Thai massage session covers all of the muscles in your body, it typically lasts 90 minutes to 120 minutes.

How much do you tip a massage therapist?

All forms of massage therapy, from Thai massage to Swedish massage to deep tissue massage, are similar to other spa or hospitality services. So it’s appropriate to tip a massage therapist the standard hospitality rate of 15 percent to 20 percent of the cost of the session. For example, the national average cost for a deep tissue massage is $70-$90, so expect to tip $12-$18. Of course, you can always tip more or less depending on your experience, especially if you’ve opted for extra services. For example, expect to tip more for a couple’s hot stone massage session that includes aromatherapy. Also, if you’re paying with a gift certificate or coupon, or purchasing a discounted multi-session package, make sure to calculate your tip based on the full price of the massage.
