"I came to Lora Anderson feeling very tired and run down, I also have fibroids in my uterus. she has been treating me for my thyroid and hormones. Since she has been treating me, I am feeling better, I have more energy and the pain I was feeling do to my fibroids has gotten much better. My treatment by her has been amazing and I will continue doing acupuncture. Lora's is very through and asks many questions to get more insight into what is occurring in your body ,which helps her access what needs to be treated. I highly reccomend you stop by and see her for what ails you, you won't be sorry, she will get you on the road to recovery."

"I’m a professional dancer and I find it hard to find a great massage therapist that knows how to work with all my injuries. Yury is very knowledgeable and strong, and was able to help me with my pain. If you are looking for a real deep tissue massage, this is the guy for you."

"Rich is great! He is a kind soul with a lot of knowledge of the body. I had a great experience with a massage and stretching! And plan to do so again! He gave me helpful solutions to my issue regarding my back pain/sciatica flare up, which have helped tremendously! I would, and already have, recommend this amazing light worker to anyone!"

"My experience during my first reiki healing sessions were better than I could have ever expected. Nicky's calm and nuturing demeanor is only part of the reason why I will be making more appointments through Mahalo Healing. In addition to creating such a relaxing enviroment with calming music and her soft tone of voice, Nicky also took the time to personalize my treatment and provided me with a "take home" sheet which included mantras that I could use through meditation. Since I have been receiving reiki in hopes to enhance fertility, she guided me in understanding the 7 chakras and ways I can "awaken" them (specifically my second chakra). She taught me self massage techniques to continue after our session which I have been doing daily. I've already felt such a positive shift in my life since our first sessions and I look forward to continuing this journey with Mahalo Healing! ....oh and the best part! She comes to you! Couldn't be more convenient . Lots of Love to MH for sharing your love and dedication to heal and make a positive impact on others!"

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is Thai massage?

Thai massage, also called Thai yoga massage, combines acupressure and assisted yoga postures. Thai massage is based on the flow of energy through the body and focuses on energy lines called “sen.” It doesn’t use oils or lotions and, instead of rubbing muscles, the massage therapist compresses, pulls, stretches and rocks the recipient’s body to promote the flow of energy through these sen. In this form of massage therapy, practitioners use their hands, knees, legs and feet to apply deep muscle compression and stretch the body. It’s often performed on a mat on the floor instead of on a massage table. Like most forms of massage, Thai massage is used to relieve stress, improve range of motion and enhance flexibility. Some people also use Thai massage to address a range of health issues, including:

  • Relieving tension headaches
  • Decreasing back pain
  • Reducing joint stiffness and pain
  • Stimulating circulation and lymphatic drainage
  • Boosting energy

Because a traditional Thai massage session covers all of the muscles in your body, it typically lasts 90 minutes to 120 minutes.

How much do you tip a massage therapist?

All forms of massage therapy, from Thai massage to Swedish massage to deep tissue massage, are similar to other spa or hospitality services. So it’s appropriate to tip a massage therapist the standard hospitality rate of 15 percent to 20 percent of the cost of the session. For example, the national average cost for a deep tissue massage is $70-$90, so expect to tip $12-$18. Of course, you can always tip more or less depending on your experience, especially if you’ve opted for extra services. For example, expect to tip more for a couple’s hot stone massage session that includes aromatherapy. Also, if you’re paying with a gift certificate or coupon, or purchasing a discounted multi-session package, make sure to calculate your tip based on the full price of the massage.
