Introduction: While I have been shooting professionally for about ten years, I still approach every job with the objective to create art, not just to shoot a likeness. An image to make the viewer smile, then, a moment later, still with a smile, say "yeah, THAT's Joe!" I have a studio in Glens Falls, which gives me more flexibility than most photographers. While natural light is beautiful and is perfect for certain situations, a studio offers additional options that work better for others. I can offer you the best photographic options for your portrait. In addition, the halls and grounds of the Shirt Factory can make for their own backdrops in natural light! I am always learning, and I hope never to stop learning about photography! I have studied at the International Center of Photography. I get inspiration from masters such as Steiglitz, Weston, and ManRay, as well as innovators like Annie Leibowitz. I study peoples' portfolios on Flickr and 1X, and keep a set of inspirations on Pinterest that I adapt for my own work. I look forward to bringing out the unique personality of you in our next shoot! Oh, and by the way, it you are looking at that 'prices starting at$80' and thinking I must be a hack, that is for studio headshots! Isn't $80 a fair price for a shoot that usually takes about 20 minutes for one final image?

We were so happy that we found Brian through Thumbtack. He did a fantastic job and took the time to understand what my family and I wanted for our family portraits. The end results were amazing!! Would definitely hire him again:). Ty!!

It was my mom's 80th birthday and we wanted a professional portrait done for all her grandchildren. She of course was nervous but Brian was awesome! He captured my mother at her best!

Had so much fun doing a boudoir style photo shoot with watermelon for a food calendar with Brian. Him and his wife made me feel very comfortable the whole time. Would recommend!

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I charge for shooting time. Editing is included in the price. There is an extra fee for travel time beyond 10 miles of Saratoga Springs, which covers not only the time it takes me to get to a location, but also schlepping the gear that is usually necessary for on-site shoot!

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I talk with a person prior to the shoot to discuss objectives. This can be on the phone or via text/email. A portrait session typically lasts about an hour, though sometimes more depending on how many people, outfit changes, and location changes. After the shoot I put your lightly edited proofs on a secure web page where you select the images you would like the final editing done.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

For a number of years I took classes at the International Center of Photography in NYC. Starting with the basics of digital I have been progressing to more creative subjects under the guidance of experienced professional photographers. I also read as much as I can online, and take various online classes (usually of a technical nature, such as a recent intensive class on converting to balck and white)
