Introduction: I work with the full person. I teach a technique but always keep the individual I am working with into account. Everyone has their own way of learning, their own reasons for taking up dance and their own strengths. I fully tap into what the individual needs and wants. I am a compassionate, knowledgeable and creative teacher. I had been a professional dancer, a teacher throughout my career, a choreographer and I have been fully trained as a teaching artist through organizations such as Lincoln Center Aesthetic Education, City Center, Young Audiences and more. I fully enjoy working with adults- both professional as well as beginners. I love dance. It is so inclusive of the whole person, mind, body and spirit. It is the perfect vehicle for artistry and creativity and even health. Classes help children grow and discover their potential both socially and individually. It helps them develop sensitivity to others, awareness and control of their bodies and it is a wonderful way to help express themselves. Dance classes help develop thinking skills as well including thinking in patterns, spatial concepts, sequencing, the list goes on and on! I love to work with both children and adults and help them to discover the joys and benefits of this discipline!

My seventeen and fifteen year old daughters have been studying dance with Beth since they were three years old. They have developed into beautiful dancers who have learned various techniques and styles of dance and a love of dance from Beth. Her approach to teaching dance is based on the art of dance, and not on competitive performance. In addition to her work with my children in the classroom, Beth has been very supportive of their extracurricular dance projects. In addition, in comparing recitals from other dance schools with Beth's, I found that the techniques displayed by the students in Children Dancing's recitals are far more advanced than those I've observed at other dance schools. I am very grateful to Beth for all of her efforts and pleased with the experiences that my daughters have had in studing dance with her.

Beth Jucovy's Body Conditioning class for adults is wonderful! My physical therapist said that it's done wonders for my back. I've noticed that I stand straighter and feel healthier after each class. I highly recommend it!!

Beth has been my daughter's dance teacher for nine years. My daughter started with Beth when she was three and started to dance on pointe last year. Her leadership and teaching has always been both professional and humanistic. She truly cares about each student and his or her development.

My daughter has been dancing with Ms. Jacovy for ten years (since she was two.) Ms. Jacovy has molded my daughter into an exquisite dancer. Ms. Jacovy is incredibly nurturing, talented, and creative. Our experiences have been extremely positive. I would highly recommend her.

FAQs

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

We discuss what they are interested in working on. We do warm-up excerercizes, and continue to build on them depending on what type of dance or movement the customer is interested in pursuing. The level is determined as we work.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have been teaching dance ever since I was a young adult. I danced and taught first with Downtown Ballet Company, a modern/ballet company in the 70s in NY, I then danced and taught with Ameridance International a jazz dance company and school in Munich and in Graz Austria. In the US I danced with the Isadora Duncan Commemorative company in 1979-81 and continued to be a soloist with many Duncan companies since. I also danced with Andrew Jannetti and Dancers, a NYC based modern dance company, for a decade. I founded my own school in 1988 and founded my company in 1990 which became a non-profit in 2011. I taught in the NYC public school system for seven years and was a teaching artist with Tilles Center for a decade. I also worked with many other organizations as a teaching artist. Training included HS of Performing Arts, and scholarships at Alvin Ailey American Dance Center, Clark Center, Harkness House and National Academy of Ballet.
