I was fortunate enough to have my pet's photos taken by Reflective Photos. She was clam, patience, and extremely friendly. She made my dog, who sometimes can be quite nervous, feel relaxed and loved. The photos themselves were magnificent and not only were framed but sent out to family and friends. Her outstanding skills are apparent in her photos. The work of my pet's photos reflects such timeless beauty. I would highly recommend this company. There's not many companies who can produce high quality art and have love for the animal as well.

Reflective Photos was the perfect choice for us. Rebekah took the time to get to know us and to make Abby comfortable. She was extremely professional, patient, and calm and can really been seen in her work. Our pictures came out better then we could have imagined. There the first pictures I show everyone! I would highly recommend Rebekah to every pet owner!

Well, it had all the makings of a fiasco. A three month old, 40 lb puppy - and three kids under the age of 8. Rebekah from Reflective Photo's came in and didn't even flinch. She clearly loves her work. The puppy was soon comfortable with her and the session passed quickly. Photo's where taken indoors and outdoors. Rebekah's attention to detail was impressive. She delivered photo's on a keepsake CD that were simply wonderful. I highly recommend Reflective Photo's.

Reflective Photos was even better than advertised. My dog Dude is very excitable and Becks calming influence put him well at ease. Whether it was taking pictures inside or out her patience and demeanor kept Dude very relaxed. Her love of animals is evident with the way she interacted with Dude. The pictures came out beautiful. The quality of her work an her professionalism made for a wonderful experience!

FAQs

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

My path to pet photography was definitely not on a straight, high speed highway; I took the back roads and got lost several times along the way. I always knew I wanted to be a photographer. In my junior year of high school I learned to shoot, develop, & process black and white film. Those were the days when Photoshop was a dark room. In college, I decided to major in the visual arts with a focus in photography, which went well until I started to think about what I would focus my career on. I thought that weddings would be the most lucrative and sensible career choice... actually I figured it would be my only choice because I knew everything at 19. It was during my second year of college that a friend who was getting married asked me to shoot her wedding. It was the first wedding I ever attended, the last wedding I ever photographed, and the straw that broke the photographer's back. I switched my major to journalism within the year. I wrongly assumed that if I didn't want to do weddings, I'd never make it as a successful photographer. Like I said, I was 19 and I knew everything! After diligently studying the New York Times, I had my first news quiz in my Journalism I class. I think I got a 30 (yes out of 100), totally embarrassed myself by disputing one of the answers and revealing my total ignorance of common geography, went to my car after class, and cried. Journalism was not for me. Nevertheless, I toughed it out for the next two years and got my degree. I tried to write for a while after college. I started an online literary magazine that lasted about a year. Then I tried to make some money writing online articles, but the writing went painfully slow and I was still working as a waitress and bartender to pay the bills. I became desperate to find a career that I would love to wake up to, but I knew I had to make money too. That's when I found my camera again. I mean, it had been there all along, and had even evolved to a digital body... but this was when I started to look at it as an opportunity once again. I printed up 50 fliers about my soon to come portfolio building month: free photo sessions in June only. Although the flier said I would shoot babies, kids, couples, families, and dogs, (everything but weddings) I found myself handing them out at dog parks. Before I knew it my portfolio was barking at me! So I guess I can't really say I decided to get into this line of work... but I decided I needed a job I could love... and this is where my heart took me.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

When you hire a pet photographer you don't just want someone who's good with a camera, you also want an experienced animal professional. I worked at a boarding kennel for cats and dogs for 5 years in addition to having spent my entire life caring for many animals from hamsters to horses. Hire a pet photographer that can guarantee that your pet's experience during their photo shoot will be just as wonderful as the resulting photos!
