I have been taking jazz guitar lessons from Dom for almost a year and a half now. His particular approach to teaching music is very refreshing from all others I've encountered before. Dom has a certain way of finding a student's particular sound on their instrument and personalizing each lesson to better bring out this sound. My experience so far has been completely positive and I look forward to more lessons.
I'be been a bass player for 30+ years and I recently decided I wanted to take my playing to a higher level. My musical theory / knowledge has never been as good as it should or could be. I started taking lessons with numerous "Bass guitar" teachers but they were more focused on technique and that's not where my skill set was lacking. I found David First on Thumbtack and since he was located close to where I live, I decided to try him as my teacher. Long story short, best musical decision I've made in a very long time... David isn't a "bass guitar" teacher per se', he's a MUSIC teacher and that's exactly what I needed. He's extremely competent in his knowledge of theory and he's a very patient teacher. He's got a very chill, Zen vibe about him which makes studying under him very easy and peaceful. I can already see a major improvement in my understanding of what to play, when to play it and why it works as a result of our lessons. If you're looking for a great music teacher, I highly recommend David First.
Guitar lessons can be boring, but not with Steve. Steve's guitar playing its Eddie Van Halen's level and best of all is that he is very humble and a funny teacher. He will take his time to explain you note by note on the entire fretboard. I always have fun learning new scales, arpeggios, triads etc. with Steve. You will actually get exited every time a guitar lesson with him is coming up. A guitar instructor that actually knows how to play pretty much anything on guitar, but if you are into Rock, Classic Rock, Hard Rock, Metal, Jazz and Jazz Fusion, you should definitely take guitar lessons with Steve. - Winston Beast Master (Khiazma band)
I took lessons from Jimi for string bass and later for guitar. Through his lessons, I learned how to do more than just read notes on a page. I learned the other important skills of improvising and jamming with others. If I ever had a problem, Jimi would notice and help me work through it. I'm now able to jam out to jazz music on bass and guitar, and it's all thanks to Jimi.
Sean and his band provided ideal lively jazz music at a local event. They were super easy to communicate with beforehand, and they played beautifully to a large very appreciative crowd. I strongly recommend them.
I'm a 29 year old male with 15 years of experience on bass guitar and was looking to enhance my singing chops. I took lessons under Gwin for several months and she definitely helped me improve my ability to sing! She noticed my strengths and weaknesses and brought it to my attention that I had a singing register that was more than I had initially expected. She also showed me how to use diaphragmatic breathing to sing the right way. I'd recommend Gwin to anyone from beginner to advanced to improve your ability to sing.
I'm an experienced guitar player in the blues and rock vein, and wanted to stretch my ears and abilities into jazz. Josh is the perfect teacher for this, because he plays all those genres, and knows how to blend them. He's patient, and tailors the lessons to the individual. Whether you are an experienced guitar player or beginner, Josh will help you play better, and make it fun.
Stelios is the man! So let's start there. I have been taking guitar lessons with him for nearly two years now. He is patient with me and has helped take me from no knowledge of the guitar whatsoever, to now playing some of my favorite songs with ease. Watching him play guitar is also truly inspiring, and gives me something to strive for as a student. He is hands down the nicest guy ever, with a big warm smile that makes you feel at ease while you are learning. I have also taken lessons with him on the bass guitar, and electric guitar. He truly has in depth knowledge and talent across the board in many different genres and instruments. Hell, he even taught me some cool licks on the drum kit with all kinds of weird jazz / African beat time signatures. I also love going to watch him perform live!
I take piano lessons from Michael. He is a great teacher, particularly because he customizes his lessons to suit the students' skill levels and musical goals. He prepares material ahead of class and has a nice structured approach that I find helpful in developing a good feel for the piano. It's great that he focuses on important technicals like tempo, playing technique and theory, and his lessons are well-rounded, with just the right amount of time spent on each aspect. I like that he is flexible with both scheduling and the curriculum, and willing to tailor material to what I am interested in. He also helped me pick out an excellent piano within my budget, which was very helpful. Overall, a great experience, and definitely recommended!
My 10 year old son started taking bass lessons from Wayne three months ago. I couldn't be happier with the progress he has made. Wayne has stressed how to properly squeeze each note, hold his fret hand and sit with correct posture. In addition my son is now reading basic sheet music. He also knows the names of most of the notes on his fretboard. Wayne always provides music lessons that he writes out personally and also provides associated MP3 audio files. My son is able to practice the lesson along with an audio track that serves as reinforcement. Wayne even transcribed a song that could be played with the actual music track. Wayne has an encouraging and positive attitude. There is a genuine excitement and passion in his teaching. I highly recommend.
I studied with Spencer briefly to help improve my jazz piano technique. We went through improvisation, solos, chord changes, modes, and even theory. My schedule didn't allow me to study with him for very long, but if I could have I would have continued. A great teacher!
Lesson scheduling is flexible. Very open to your preference of music to learn. Offers more than learning to play guitar & bass, such as writing and recording music. Good lesson fee rates. A great teacher and musician to learn from.
His teaching is excellent , everything is broken down to my understanding and he is a friendly person. Literally love playing the guitar, Kevin is very comical and I enjoy the guitar lessons!
My experience with Yuto, I could say, was life-changing. The amount of not only knowledge, but really feeling of what Jazz and music in general can be, was endless. Yuto treats you as a real friend, and his lessons are both very practical, but also with a theoretical foundation that really provides a real sense of what you are playing or composing. Also, Yuto, above all, is a great human being, with a big heart and passion for music. We ended up recording some things at his studio and continue to be good friends. I will always thank him and consider him to be one of the best musicians I´ve played with and hope to play again soon with him. To anyone that is looking for lessons on Jazz, or classical or any kind of music. I could, with all sincerety say, Yuto is the one for you. -Diego D.
Dan was so flexible in arranging a "birthday gift" of guitar lessons for our daughter. Though the schedules haven't worked out yet for the lessons, my daughter is really looking forward to such. Friendly, and approachable man. A pleasure to deal with!
Today was my first bass lesson with Junichi. After carefully reviewing all my options all I have to say is I'm extremely satisfied. From the moment I arrived he made me feel right at home and started playing a song by Harabe de palo: La Flaca which I've always wanted to learn. I was impressed with Junichi's ability to keep me relaxed throughout the entire lesson. He pointed out several software programs he uses with students to facilitate the learning process and maximized use of time. Can't wait till my next lesson! We need more instructors like Junichi!
im in high school and i wanted to get better at jazz saxophone and improvisation and even though peter plays guitar and piano he taught me so much theory and technique for soloing and it changed my playin! he showed me so many classic albums to study and he is such an inspiring dude to hang with learn form peter!!!
Over the coarse of 6 or so years Chris Schreiner has given me countless one on one bass lessons. Not only is he a personable guy, he always finds inventive ways to help a student succeed; Professionalism (on time, proper equipment, and real life experience), clear articulation (Terminology and Explanations), and positive attitude will not only encourage you but motivate you to do well. His versatility is also a plus. He has no problem catering to peoples musical needs no matter how far out it may be. All in all, great guy, great teacher!
Steve can play & teach absolutely every genre of music on the bass, answer any question, demonstrate anything that you want to know and sightread difficult charts in seconds. He's the consummate bass player/instructor. The real deal!
Yeah.... I think Billy's an excellent instructor. The quality of his lessons are top notch. He always comes in with a lesson plan and it begins from there, before you know it you're playing a bass riff or two from the lesson you just given. And he also playing along with you. I find it to be a lot of fun, and I haven't had as much fun with learning since Junior High. I'd recommend him to anyone who'd want to learn how to play bass guitar.
