I went for my first drum lesson with Mike. He's really relaxed and a great teacher! Had a great experience.
Barbara Wyton of Continuo Music is kind, knowledgeable and well-organized. She is communicative and sends out regular updates on our account and calendar status. We love the convenience of a home trumpet lesson, and the teacher is spectacular.
They have a lot of experience teaching guitar lessons to people with all levels of musical ability. I really enjoyed working with them.
Chris Tibaldi gave both of my sons drum lessons for many years throughout elementary, middle school and high school. My sons had several drum instructors before we found Chris and they wish they had him from the start. He was by far the most talented drummer and teacher out of all of them, and always came prepared with a lesson to teach them if they did not have requests to learn a song or have something for school. They each grew so much as people and musicians because of Chris. My oldest son, already an advanced drummer, learned so much from Chris, who can teach and develop both beginners and advanced drummers. We could not have asked for a better instructor. My sons loved getting drum lessons from Chris and looked forward to their lesson each week. Chris is an outstanding drum instructor, who is extremely talented. Because of Chris's exceptional instruction both of my sons did NYSSMA, were selected for All County numerous times, went on to play in college and were even selected to be the drum major. If you are looking for someone to teach you or your child the value of music, particularly drums and percussion, there is no one better than Chris Tibaldi for the job.
I've had a lot of drum lessons from top players in NYC. Guy stands out to me because of his professionalism and work ethic. He shows up on time and I always look forward to our lessons.
Fun drum lesson. Plus I learned a lot in only an hour. I'm going to continue taking lessons.
I wanted to learn to play the drums but I didn't know where to start. I was recommended by a friend who knew Michael, so I took lessons from him without knowing what to expect. Because I live in a NYC apartment, I used his practice room to practice, and he was generous to offer his time outside of our lessons to help me with some of the things I missed while I practiced. I took lessons from him for about a year until I began to get busy with my day time job. But during that time, I sincerely enjoyed learning from him. Michael is very patient and very articulate when he teaches concepts, and he is clearly very passionate about music. He is well versed and knowledgeable on all genres, and this got me engaged in different styles of music as well. Michael is a great teacher, but he is also a great guy. He has a genuine and sincere demeanor, and very prompt and conscientious with his work. I really enjoyed learning from him, and I hope I can go back to practicing drums again soon.
Aaron is an incredible drum teacher!! I've taken five lessons with him, and I always leave the lesson feeling great about how much I've learned. I am a slow learner, and not only was Aaron very patient with me, he helped me along much quicker than I could have expected. Five Stars!!!
I don't know where to begin, Jim is one of the best music teachers I've ever had. And I've been playing instruments for over 25 years. Jim is very knowledgeable and well-versed on percussion. He was also really patient with me which I appreciate - since it's been several years since I played drums. But I picked it back up right away with Jim's teaching and I'm really happy with the results of my lessons. I highly recommend Jim Saint-Amour as a drum instructor!
I sing on my church choir and noticed that I wasn't connecting to the directions of the music director. Terrence taught my son piano several years ago and was on his second year teaching my daughter. So I began taking voice lessons with Terrence and began learning how to control my breathing and protecting my vocal cords as well as learning about tone, pitch and stamina. I look forward to our next set of lessons which also fits my budget!
Dustin has been giving my 7 year old drum lessons for 2 years, he's great with my son, patient, talented and always on time. I can't recommend him high enough!
Jay is the best!! I have absolutely no rhythm, but I needed to learn three songs on the drums and somehow - quite magically - made it work. He's patient and kind and smart and funny and, best of all, seriously knows his stuff. We had a blast and I totally rocked out!! I 100% recommend Jay without reservation.
Trevor is a talented instructor who has great rapport with the students. Punctual, well prepared and creative in his teaching methods it was a pleasure to have him on staff. Students loved him.
I didn't know what to expect being a first time thumbtack user but I couldn't be happier. Rob was great and my son is SUPER EXCITED to continue learning the drums. Great experience, and we intend to continue lessons.
Very knowledgable about his craft and conveys that knowledge well. Super nice, chill guy too! So lessons are fun and not stressful but are still informative
I began studying drums with Tony about 20 years ago when I was 9 years old. His musical and teaching expertise helped to lay a foundation for me that I owe a lot to. I ended up studying jazz guitar at a university world-renowned for its jazz program and a big part of what got me there was my understanding of rhythm and how to practice effectively - all of which I attribute to my formative years studying with Tony. I had the benefit of working with a number of renowned musicians and educators during my time in college (Mulgrew Miller, Harold Mabern, Gene Bertoncini, Vic Juris, and more) and Tony is one of the best teachers I’ve come across. I’ve since resumed my drum studies with Tony and I am seeing great results. He has a ton of ways to work on building coordination and ways to creatively apply the material so that you develop your own voice as a drummer. He has an incredibly vast knowledge of drums, rhythm and different styles. Tony is an outstanding drummer and educator and his personality and sense of humor make the lessons a great time. If you are serious about your musicianship and want to take your drumming to the highest level, study with Tony!
Passionate about what she does ! Will take her time to teach you until you get it right as well as motivate you even further to keep learning. I recommend her for anyone with the desire to truly learn.
I am a professional drummer. I've toured around the world and have learned from drummers like Carmine Appice, Chris Coleman, Thomas Lang, Zoro and many others. I currently play with two groups (Whyte Planes and January Jane) which take up most of my time, but I enjoy teaching and educating aspiring drummers.
In my ukulele, guitar, and drum jam classes, curious beginners can pick up a new instrument in a fun, creative environment with an experienced teacher. Private and group lessons are offered for beginner, intermediate, and advanced musicians. Hybrid lessons are also available, meaning students can choose to combine instruments in a private class (ex: guitar and voice). The students will learn the following: * Basic musical concepts (pitch, rhythm, timing, scales, chords, harmony) * Fun songs and riffs * New styles of world music * Simple strumming patterns * Common rhythms from around the world * Easy fingerpicking techniques * Basic music theory * How to accompany other musicians Students can try making their own songs and much more! I hope to see you jammin' to some new tunes soon! The Teacher: Andrew Salamanca has experience with a variety of world music styles, and he hopes to share this knowledge with his students. He also has 15 years of musical experience and 7 years of teaching experience. He has learned to play 10 instruments, including 2 traditional Chinese instruments. He has performed with a number of international musicians in both the United States and Taiwan.
