I went for my first drum lesson with Mike. He's really relaxed and a great teacher! Had a great experience.
Barbara Wyton of Continuo Music is kind, knowledgeable and well-organized. She is communicative and sends out regular updates on our account and calendar status. We love the convenience of a home trumpet lesson, and the teacher is spectacular.
They have a lot of experience teaching guitar lessons to people with all levels of musical ability. I really enjoyed working with them.
Devin was a fabulous teacher for my teenage son for several years. Absolutely the best we've had! Devin brings a great combination of classic studies with music and songs that my son loves to play. My son started with "just" drum lessons but then asked to also take piano - just because of the influence of Devin. Devin brings out students curiosity to learn and understand and stretch themselves and their music. Couldn't ask for more!
I've had a lot of drum lessons from top players in NYC. Guy stands out to me because of his professionalism and work ethic. He shows up on time and I always look forward to our lessons.
Fun drum lesson. Plus I learned a lot in only an hour. I'm going to continue taking lessons.
Daryl is extremely good and gentle with my young child's emotionally and physically (& he is extremely active) while at the same time balancing that with being serious and firm. He is creative with his lesson plans tailoring them to my child's age, personality, favorite songs and knowledge base. My son loves going 'to see Mr. Daryl to play drums'. Daryl even provides homework and teaches my child each component of the drums... Which my son can name and he is only 3. My family just brought my son his own set of drums so he can continue to practice regularly.
I wanted to learn to play the drums but I didn't know where to start. I was recommended by a friend who knew Michael, so I took lessons from him without knowing what to expect. Because I live in a NYC apartment, I used his practice room to practice, and he was generous to offer his time outside of our lessons to help me with some of the things I missed while I practiced. I took lessons from him for about a year until I began to get busy with my day time job. But during that time, I sincerely enjoyed learning from him. Michael is very patient and very articulate when he teaches concepts, and he is clearly very passionate about music. He is well versed and knowledgeable on all genres, and this got me engaged in different styles of music as well. Michael is a great teacher, but he is also a great guy. He has a genuine and sincere demeanor, and very prompt and conscientious with his work. I really enjoyed learning from him, and I hope I can go back to practicing drums again soon.
I took lessons with Pablo about three years ago and at that time I was mostly self-taught, never having formal lessons before. I was a punk rock drummer so I was caught very off guard when Pablo wanted to teach me Afro-Cuban patterns. He took me way out of my element with these grooves I had never seen before. While challenging at first, he really helped me through it by writing the patterns out for me and showing them to me again and again...and again. Pablo helped make me into a more well-rounded drummer and I still recommend him today. Friendly, personal, and a teacher who really knows what he's doing; be sure to give him a call.
I sing on my church choir and noticed that I wasn't connecting to the directions of the music director. Terrence taught my son piano several years ago and was on his second year teaching my daughter. So I began taking voice lessons with Terrence and began learning how to control my breathing and protecting my vocal cords as well as learning about tone, pitch and stamina. I look forward to our next set of lessons which also fits my budget!
Dustin has been giving my 7 year old drum lessons for 2 years, he's great with my son, patient, talented and always on time. I can't recommend him high enough!
This dude is amazing, he's crazy talented with the drums and has a lot of patience with kids. My 9 year old son has been going to him through out the summer time and he as been teaching him the basics of drumming (of course). He even started teaching my son how to read music. He is reasonably priced, his spot is a little small and dark but hey it works. When you meet him tell him to play a little something he'll definitely impress you!
Jay is the best!! I have absolutely no rhythm, but I needed to learn three songs on the drums and somehow - quite magically - made it work. He's patient and kind and smart and funny and, best of all, seriously knows his stuff. We had a blast and I totally rocked out!! I 100% recommend Jay without reservation.
Trevor is a talented instructor who has great rapport with the students. Punctual, well prepared and creative in his teaching methods it was a pleasure to have him on staff. Students loved him.
Jim is the first drum teacher I've had and I can't imagine a better introduction to drums and different beats than the one he's provided! He is very professional and accommodating, comes prepared to your lessons, and even makes sure you have practice material in between lessons. He's clearly very experienced with the instrument, and is an amazing teacher :)
I didn't know what to expect being a first time thumbtack user but I couldn't be happier. Rob was great and my son is SUPER EXCITED to continue learning the drums. Great experience, and we intend to continue lessons.
Josh Roberts is the reason I am still in music today. He taught me when I was just beginning on drums and he gave me the best skills and insights on music I've ever received. He is a natural teacher and knows exactly what to say in order for the student to understand. He is the only drum teacher I've had because I never needed another one after I took lessons from him.
I teach all styles of drums (rock, jazz, Latin, hip-hop, etc.). I also teach drum techniques and how to read music. I have an associate's degree in music theory and percussion.
I teach music to potential and current drum students and perform live jazz, jazz fusion, and other genres.
A professional drummer and drum teacher will be happy to share his knowledge with interested people. Dmitry is a winner of national drum contests in Europe, as well as a performer of innumerable bands in Europe and USA.
The Al Miller Drum School has been in existence for over 5 decades. It is an easy program to follow and has provided it's students with the tools needed to understand rhythm and technique. The system is based on Al's proven instructional method begun in 1951. Many of today's most well-known drummers have studied the Miller drum system, including Billy Cobham, Greg Bissenette and Rod Morgenstein, to name just a few. Even the great Buddy Rich recognized the value of his system and asked my father to teach him to read music. Since my father's passing in 2000, I've been expanding his method and personalizing it for the modern drummer.
