Michelle is great with kids. Our 7-year old daughter loves her piano lessons and always looks forward to them. More important, we can hear that she is really learning and making great progress. Two of her school friends have started lessons with Michelle after we recommended her.

Harry has a great love of music and superb knowledge of viola, violin and piano. He's terrific at imparting theory during a lesson and always makes up the time if he arrives late or has to miss a lesson. He's cheerful and high-energy. Highly recommended.

I am fortunate to have found a dedicated and professional violin teacher for my two children. Miss Victoria has a great personality and is able to keep them focused and motivated. My daughter was especially taken immediately with her encouraging and supportive approach. Their hand position and technique are much improved since starting with Miss Victoria.

Dina has prepared me for a life of professional playing as a violinist. She has not only corrected many technical problems I had, but also helped me musically understand a variety of pieces ranging to Bach Partitas to (most recently) the Shostakovich Violin Concerto in A Minor. I am currently waiting on conservatory decisions, but thanks to her critique, I have received complements from professors at fine institutions including MSM, Mannes, Eastman, Oberlin, and Juilliard- all of whom were eager to know who I studied with. I highly recommend Dina to any student who wants to improve their playing tremendously.

My 5 year old started with Ms. Delon 2 months ago. Her piano teaching style is exceptional. She means real piano lessons and every single minute of her class is maximize! In a Very short span of time, my daughter is reading and writing notes and playing several piano pieces. My daughter’s love for music keeps growing more and more since the day we met Ms. Delon. She looks forward for her piano class every Saturday!

On our first violin course, Emanuelle helped me to correct my gesture of holding violin, also taught me how to practice upper bow. After the course, i feel that i can hold the violin more comfortablly and also i can make more powerful sound with my bow. Emanuelle teach with great patience, and he know how to inspire me to find my own way to hold the violin and bow. learning with him is a fruitful experience

VMS has a friendly atmosphere, and great teachers. My son is 12. He is taking piano lessons and band lessons. He plays classical and modern pieces. He is in two rock bands where he plays the keyboard and he sings. The music school's program keeps him motivated to thrive better.

My daughter has been taking violin lessons with David since she was 9 years old; and more recently, she has started classical, acoustic guitar lessons the summer before entering college. He is a dedicated professional and diligent in making sure his students learn correct technique and become more musical in their own personal way. More importantly, David has the ability to keep his lessons fun and varied! Her lessons have always been highlights of my daughter's week! I recommend David without hesitation.

This is definitely the place to come for top music instruction. As a drummer, Joe has taught me so much and is continuing to teach me more and more during each lesson. In Joe's studio; he's got sound activated lights, smoke and bubble machines, you can play along to RockBand (which is my favorite). For Joe, the sky is the limit. Always thinking of ways for his students to exceed their expectations of music instruction. I've been a student of Joe's for 10 years and he's always having new ideas to make his lesson more enjoyable. Joe's staff is always full of energy! His staff are dedicated to their students and is a lot of fun to jam out with them. The receptionist is great to get along with always helping the students rearrange their lesson to what better suits the student. Joe's one of a kind showcase is always put together with flawless detail! Reasonable rates. But, this is definitely the place to come to for top music instruction; for all ages!! Keep on Jammin' !!!

Avital has been my sons violin tutor for quite some time, and I couldn't be happier. He is a wonderful teacher and an expert violinist. He really knows how to deal with children (my son is 9), and is patient and gentle, while at the same time holding them to a real standard and encouraging them to be the best they can. He is a wonderful violin tutor and I highly recommend him!

I was looking for a teacher who can teach beginner adult violin and I found a perfect teacher! I learned violin when I was a child so I did have prior exposure but I haven't played it for about 10 years so I didn't know where I stand or where I should start from. Tianyang also checked the condition of my violin (it was still in a playable condition thankfully). After the first lesson he could see exactly where I stand now and where I should start from. He is helping me to learn the right posture again and he's giving tons of tips as well. He is very patient and encouraging. He works well with adults but I am sure he'll be good at teaching children as well. I'm very glad to learn violin from him!

I reached out to Emma after a friend of mine recommended her to me for music theory help. On my first session, I was able to grasp simple music theory concepts that I had not been able to understand on my own. She was able to really simplify it and explain it to me with the upmost patience even after I felt like I was getting everything wrong. After my first session, I inquired about violin lessons and she sent me home with an assignment to start looking at an intermediate violin piece she picked out that would suit my skill level (I am a novice violin player with some experience). She was very quick to respond when I reached out to her on feedback on choosing my piece. On my second session, she started out with a very organized lesson plan for me and a practice schedule that she typed up for me to stick to. Her lessons are very organized and very informative which have definitely helped me see improvement in my playing just after a couple of lessons. I highly recommend reaching out to Emma if you are looking to get quality lessons from a professional musician !

Helene was my piano teacher from kindergarten through high school. She taught me how to read, understand, play and love music. Furthermore, my early -and in-depth- start with piano prepared me for years of trumpet in various advanced bands. Although I am not currently taking lessons, I still sit down to play piano whenever I get the chance. I'll play anything from Bach to Beethoven to Josh Groban to new and classic Disney - really anything I'm in the mood for. Helene's teaching has made me proficient enough in piano and music in general such that I can truly enjoy playing. Thanks Helene!!

About

I have been teaching private and group violin, viola, piano and theory to students of all levels and ages for over five years, including students in the autism spectrum. I specializes in jazz strings*, intermediate classical violin/viola and beginning piano. Regardless of style, level or instrument, instruction is always catered to the specific needs and personality of each student and developing their uniquely expressive musical voice. *I believe the importance of teaching young aspiring string students the power and freedom of improvisation is an essential part of their music education. The skills learned through improvisation translate far beyond just music; it’s about critical and creative decision making in day to day life, time management, the virtue of patience, and forming a strong sense of identity, confidence and freedom - something all children could benefit from in the chaotic society we currently live. Recommended for ages 10 and older.

About

Welcome to the Cathy M Dillon Music Studio. I teach private lessons for students of all ages on Viola and Violin. I am also offering music theory and chamber music coaching. I have a nice space full of music, a piano, assorted string instruments, large full length mirror, recording and playback equipment, and harp. We also have a guest bathroom and space for a couple of people to sit in the foyer. My background is strongest as a classical player, but I can give you the basics for Fiddle, Mariachi, World music, Blues scale and Improv. All students are expected to learn basic music theory and develop familiarity with the piano keyboard. I also have 'in-house' harpist (adult daugter) who is accepting students for regular lessons, and she also offers introductory/exploratory one-half hour lesson on the harp at $25. I am very flexible with each student's needs and goals. At your first lesson we should be able to establish some of your strengths and weaknesses and discuss the skills and repertoire that match your timeline and goals. After your first lesson we can discuss a regular weekly time. First 30 min trial lesson $25, and regular rates $65/80/95. Regular lessons are very important and scheduling should anticipate potential conflicts 3-4 months in advance. Payment is expected at the beginning of each month, or students may pay by the 'semester'. Rescheduled and makeup lesson time is limited. To allow everyone the same flexibility; generally no more than 1 makeup or alternate time per month. I am also a performer and am happy to organize professional ensembles for your special event. I can provide string duos, trios and quartets.. at ceremonies, cocktails, receptions, etc. Rates are roughly $135 per person per hour (harp costs more).

I have been wanting to learn Violin for some time, but have never gotten around to starting. I finally just said "it's now or never" and want to learn how to play. I don't plan to ever be a professional, but I want to have something I can practice, have fun, and really stretch my musical muscle... which has been untouched for well over a decade.
