I was Daan's student for a year. HIGHLY recommendable. Although I had taken some years of lessons in high school before I started with Daan and played OK, I was always frustrated that I couldn't reach a good "sound". Dan put in a lot effort to find out what I wanted, and recommended me tons of classic and obscure jazz artists to find out what I wanted. This way I studied lots of different tunes and styles, which freed me from playing the same songs and solos over and over. Of course theory was involved in the explanations of why and how the songs and solos work. Daan has an encyclopedic knowledge about this stuff, made sure I learned enough about it to progress, but didn't obsess with it like my old teacher. Besides being and excellent teacher he's an cool guy, is extremely passionate about his music and knows all about it. Ah you can go see him play in a bar almost every week for inspiration.

I have been working with Daan Kleijn for many years doing various musical collaborations. He is an outstanding guitar player as well as a very professional and creative arranger and composer. Daan is an outstanding guitarist. I'm a pianist and played for a while with Daan in my own trio. He is comfortable with a lot of musical styles, a very musical player and a great composer. He has a good focus and concentration that will make the lessons that you take with him worth every minute.

I have a BA in music with a minor in education and an MA in music performance from New York University.

I provide my clients with guitar lessons, which is different every time. I teach people ranging in lever from absolute beginner to professional musician.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
It's always important that you feel comfortable with your teacher, i'd advise people to informally try a lesson and if it doesn't feel right, search for another teacher..
