I love the Italian language and culture and realized my speaking abilities from my university studies were rustier than I thought during a recent trip to Italy this past summer. Upon my return to the States, I immediately sought private tutoring and I could not be more satisfied in finding Mariateresa. I've seen vast improvement in my comprehension and speaking since I started taking lessons with her. The first couple months were focused on fundamentals and book work but now each lesson begins with about 30 mins of conversation (in Italian of course) before diving into books. I cannot recommend Mariateresa enough regardless of your comprehension level because not only does she challenge me every week to improve my skill but the time spent with her is very enjoyable and something I look forward to every week.

Maria has a very warm and welcoming personality. Within five minutes of meeting her, she put me at ease regarding my level of proficiency and coaxed me into speaking only Italian with her. As we have been working together for about one year now, she has been engaging me in all areas of discussionâpolitics, religion, family, history, the artsâand my Italian is becoming noticeably better. But more importantly, our sessions no longer feel like a lesson but rather like two friends catching up.
