FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I make all my fees very clear upfront and give my customers written, detailed proposals for their project before we start anything. I go over all these details and get their ok before starting anything. The budget, time frame and what they can expect from me is also discussed and explained. I have access to products and trades people that the average consumer doesn’t have. This is how I can offer my clients things that are unique, custom or available to the trade only. If needed I also offer services to manage a team of trades people to help execute the project.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
During an initial free 15 minute phone consult we first discuss the big picture... number of rooms, budget, style and time frames. I then send a detailed questionnaire that the client fills out. This gives me more information to help calculate a bid for the job. We also establish if only design services are needed or if the job requires project management in conjunction with my design services. The amount of interaction the client is seeking is clarified and any other parameters that are pertinent to the project are discussed and written up into job proposal/contract. After signing a contract and receiving a deposit the work begins with measurements of the space followed by mood boards. These are photo collages of actual product including everything from suggested paint colors to furniture artwork and accessories. I also supply computer aided design documents for spatial planning and furniture layout. This gives the client a clear visual of the complete project in 3D. We then finalize what pieces need to be ordered, take care of schedules and budget for any trade work that is needed ( i.e painting, upholstery work, window treatments etc).
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a bachelor’s degree in design from School of Visual Arts in NYC. My hands on practical experience started with a complete design and renovation job of my own home including both the interior and exterior. Work experience from my projects has been invaluable as well as taking continuing education classes in my field from established experts on a consistent basis.
