I had a very bad bee problem on the outside of the house; however, what prompted me to contact Michael was the fact that 5-6 bees were getting into the house on a daily basis. Michael was excellent. We had great communication through Thumbtack which was easy and convenient and we set up the appointment for the next day. He showed up as scheduled and was done in a short time. Since he treated the bee problem, there has been practically zero activity with the exception of a straggler here and there (which he said should be expected). I will highly recommend contacting Michael for any bee problem you may have and I will be contacting him in the future if I happen to have another bee problem next year.

Great service, price and guarantee. Rick was very responsive to my request to eliminate a bee problem that I had in Cedar Grove. In shopping for pricing I learned that not only was he competitive but offered the longest guarantee. He showed up when promised, gave me a heads up just before arrival and followed up post treatment to make sure that everything was still good. Good business and a good man

Pat was extremely responsive and viewed my property same day of contact and provided a very reasonable quote. Showed up on time the next day to perform the spraying (miner bees throughout the rather large yard). Very professional. Excellent service. Will definitely be using him again for all my pest problems! Thanks Pat!!!

Jim and his highly trained team have been treating my home for over twelve years. Everything from carpenter ants to stink bugs, mice, wasps, bats, and other wildlife issues has been tackled by Jim in a very professional and humane fashion, and with very reasonable rates! I have called on weekends with "emergencies" (a mouse in the middle of the family room, hearing a bat in the walls, what I thought was something in the chimney, etc) and they are very responsive and patient. Thankfully, the mice have been made to go elsewhere, the bats have been sealed out of the eaves, and we have not had the rash of stinkbugs and ants we began with. So very glad to have found Quality Pro when we moved to Westchester all those years ago!

Had a problem with mice entering my basement. Tried a few of the store bought contraption and honestly I think the mice laughed at me. I contacted Total Pest Control. They came out, set up a few devices, came back in a few days and sure enough there were mice. The serviceman was nice enough to educate me on how and why the mice were getting in. He fixed a few entry points and recommend I stop feeding my dogs in the basement. Since this problem, I have had this company come back to exterminate for bees and wasp. And again, excellent service. I will continue to use this company.

I called this company at the beginning of the summer because I had multiple bees nest in the outside walls of my house. They took care of the issue and I didn't see any bees around my house for the rest of the summer. I have used them in the past for mice, ants, and wildlife removal. They usually come the same day I call, their prices are reasonable, and the technician is always professional and knowledgeable. I highly recommend and will use them again in the future.

        Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What do pest control companies do?

Pest control companies handle all aspects of bug, rodent and animal extermination or removal. Pest control professionals visit your home or office to identify the type of pest that is troubling you and offer various treatment plans — complete with clearly outlined costs. Once you and the pest control company have a signed agreement, the pro will begin treatment. Pest treatment can range from the use of spray pesticides and gel bait to live and/or kill traps. There are a wide range of types of pesticides, many of them nontoxic for humans and other small animals. This means you may be able to have your home treated for pests without harming nearby wildlife or your dog and cat. The pest control pro will carry out the treatment plan and, depending on the service agreement, provide follow-up such as emptying traps, inspecting access points, or reapplying pesticide spray if the pests return. Costs will vary based on the type of pest you are having removed and the extent of the infestation. The average national pest control price range is $80-$130. From a minor bedbug event to an entire home termite infestation, pest control companies have got you covered.

How much does it cost to remove a mouse?

If you have a mouse in your house you’re probably quickly researching pest control costs. Mice, although tiny, can transmit diseases and also get into your food and leave unsanitary droppings around your home. If you have seen one mouse in your house, it’s likely that more have taken up residence in your crawl space, attic or basement. The national average pest control cost is $150-$200. Costs can vary depending on whether you need to get rid of a population of living mice or just dispose of a dead mouse (or full traps), how extensive the mouse population is, and where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pest control cost for removing a mouse:

        • $150 for initial trap setup and inspection (and sealing of entry holes).
          • $50 for rodent removal service calls and emptying of traps. This visit can also include identifying and sealing entry points that were not sealed on the first visit.
        • Rodent extermination: $110-$350, depending on how heavy the rodent population is, whether the mouse infestation poses health risks, how many entrances exist and how many rodent bait stations are needed.

How much does it cost for a pest control service?

Whether you need to get rid of bugs or rodents, pest removal professionals can be lifesaving when you have an infestation. Pest control prices will vary based on what type of pest is being removed. The national pest control price range is $80-$130, although prices can be much higher for tasks like wildlife removal (raccoons, bobcats, etc.), which might start at $250 and exceed $500, depending on the animal and the trapping measures required.

The cost of eliminating a termite colony ranges on average from $240 to $400, but these costs can increase greatly if the whole house is infested. The average cost to kill cockroaches is between $80 and $130, while bedbug extermination ranges from $320 to $400 on average. The main factors that will affect your pest control price are the type of pest, the extent of the infestation, the accessibility of the infested areas, and the type of treatment required.

How much does it cost to get rid of cockroaches?

Cockroaches are not only ugly, they are difficult to get rid of. Quick and resilient, they can be hard to get rid of without professional help once they have inhabited a house. Nationally, the average range for cockroach pest control cost is $80-$130. Extermination professionals typically provide a free estimate to determine the extent of the infestation. They’ll check for the main sources of the bugs, identify bug access and entry points into your home, and determine the best method for elimination. There are a variety of cockroach extermination tools including gel baits and traps, pesticide foggers, desiccants (which dry out the cockroaches), neurotoxins, and other pesticides. Pest control costs can also cover preventive measures like regular spraying and trap maintenance. Some regions of the country are much more prone to cockroach problems than others, so pest control costs may need to be part of your quarterly budget. Cockroaches love dark, humid, and warm areas and water sources, so place traps near your washer and dryer and under your sinks.

How much does it cost to treat a house for termites?

Termites are not only creepy-crawly, they can literally eat your house out from underneath you. Termites feed on damp and dry wood and can chomp through your house at an alarming rate. The national average pest control cost for termite extermination is $240-$400. Treatment costs can be higher for an extensive infestation. Here are some examples of average pest control costs for termites:

        • Liquid treatment of subterranean termites: $3-$4 per linear foot.
          • For $75 per year, a company may offer a maintenance plan that provides inspection of the property and renewal of the warranty.
        • Liquid treatment of subterranean termites: approximately $400 for a 2,000-square-foot home at $3-$5 per linear foot.
          • The price is higher for additional work such as foaming and drilling inside of concrete slabs.
        • Fumigation treatment of drywood termites: $1,200-$1,500 for a 30,000- to 35,000-cubic-foot home
          • Fumigation is measured in cubic feet because it fills the airspace of the home and infiltrates the wood that the termites may be colonizing. The cost of fumigation is affected by the number of levels in the home as well as the square footage.
