Flutist Amy Fiorito pursues an active performance career as an orchestral musician, chamber artist, and recitalist in concert venues throughout North America and Europe. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Miami's Frost School of Music with a Master's of Music and a Bachelor's of Music in Flute Performance. There she studied under the distinguished tutelage of Trudy Kane, former Principal Flutist of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra for 32 years and student of Julius Baker. Ms. Fiorito also served as Graduate Teaching Assistant and Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra Fellow. She was invited into the National Music Honor Society, Pi Kappa Lambda and received the Constance Weldon Scholarship for Music and Academic Performance. Prior to that, Ms. Fiorito was a recipient of the Music Educators National Conference All-USA High School Musicians Scholarship and won acceptance into the New York State All-State Orchestra. She has appeared in master class performances for renowned flutists Leone Buyse, Brad Garner, Jeffrey Khanner, Robert Langevin, Gary Schocker, and Jim Walker. Ms. Fiorito has had the opportunity to work with such diverse artists as Joseph Alessi, Patti Austin, John Corigliano, Michael Feinstein, Sir James Galway, Jennifer Koh, Monica Mancini, David Maslanka, Arturo Sandoval, John Secada, and Nestor Torres. She appeared in the PBS-televised concert and Grammy-nominated album, An Evening with Dave Grusin, co-produced by music industry icon Phil Ramone. Ms. Fiorito has performed with the Miami Bach Society Orchestra, the Rome Festival Orchestra, the Frost Symphony Orchestra, the Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra, and was Piccoloist of the Florida Grand Opera Orchestra. She currently enjoys a busy schedule of varied freelance engagements in the Greater New York City/Hudson Valley Area. In addition to her performance experience, Ms. Fiorito is also an accomplished Music Educator having taught in elementary, secondary, and university settings with students of varied ages and skill levels. She has served as a Teaching Artist and Clinician for numerous honors ensembles and school programs in South Florida and New York. She is also an experienced Adjudicator and has evaluated for several music organizations including the Florida Flute Association. Ms. Fiorito has been recognized as an influential Music Educator who believes in making musical instruments more accessible for young students and was invited to become a Flute Ambassador for Nuvo Instrumental. She is currently Flute Instructor and Primary Directress at Montgomery Montessori School where she shares her musical talent and love of learning with the students there.
