Introduction: We are not exterminators, but before exterminators can effectively treat properties, pest control companies require that you prepare your apartment according to their specifications.
All pest management companies agree that the proper preparation maximizes the effectiveness of the treatment, regardless of the treatment method used. The prepping process is an arduous, time-consuming, and stressful process.
That's where we come in! We'll prepare your home for bed bug extermination. Our prepping service reduces the number of bed bugs in a matter of one day!
This is what we do:
- Stripping
We'll remove all sheets, blankets, mattress covers, pillowcases, etc. from your beds and place them in plastic bags for washing.
- Dismantling
At the pest management company's request, we'll disassemble your bed, separating the headboard and footboard from the bed frame.
- Emptying
We'll empty all closets, dresser drawers, bookshelves, wall units, night stand drawers, and other furniture located near the bed(s). We'll also remove all clothing, toys, boxes, etc. from bedroom floors and all items beneath the bed(s). All pictures and wall-hung items will be removed, vacuumed and bagged.
- Laundering
We'll wash all clothing, towels, and other linens and place them in clear plastic bags. Finally, we'll store the laundry in a designated living area for the duration of the treatment (additional cost will apply).
- Vacuuming
Using HEPA vacuums, we'll vacuum all bed frames, mattresses, box springs, furniture, inside closets, dresser drawers, headboards and nightstands, chairs, rugs and baseboards, wall hung items, etc. We'll even vacuum shoes before placing them in plastic bags. We'll then place the vacuum bags in a sealed plastic bag before discarding them.
- Encasing
We'll encase all mattresses, box springs, and pillows in impenetrable zippered encasements to prevent bed bugs seeking harborage and escaping (additional cost will apply). Finally, we'll make all rooms accessible for inspection and treatment by moving furniture at least 16" from the wall.
Above services are included in our hourly rate per technician of $55.00.
Additional prep services include:
- Bed bug monitoring
For $55.00 per room, we'll monitor your apartment/house with portable carbon dioxide monitors for five (5) days.
- Disposal service
Let us properly dispose of your bed bug-infested mattresses. The cost depends on weight plus time to load and offload.
- Garment steaming service
Let us sanitize your garments for only $1.25 for shirts; $3.00 for pants, skirts, and sweaters; $4.00 for dresses; $6.00 for suits and blazers; and $8.00 for coats. Using garment steamers, we'll apply steam over 300 degrees Fahrenheit to your clothes. Leather and suede are processed in heating devices for $15.00 per garment.
We are not a dry cleaning service; we sanitize already cleaned garments with steam.
- Laundering
We'll launder your clothes for $20.00 per hour plus the cost of machines. Detergent, fabric softener, and bags are included in the price.
Once your property is treated and cleared by your pest control company:
- Post-treatment cleaning/reorganization service
Vacuum and wipe down bed frames, picture frames, furniture, etc. with an environmentally friendly enzyme cleaning product.
Vacuum flooring, baseboard molding, mattresses, box springs, closets, and upholstered furniture.
Restore your apartment by putting your personal belongings and furniture in its original place.
- Sealing service
After your treatment, let us make your apartment impervious to bed bugs entering your apartment through voids in the wall and share electrical, heating, plumbing, and/or ventilation conduits from neighboring apartments. For $100.00 per hour, we'll:
- Seal around plumbing, heating, and electrical conduits.
- Install a breathable mesh material behind vents in the kitchen and bath.
- Seal baseboard molding throughout apartment.
- Remove receptacle cover plates, seal voids around electrical box, and install fire-retardant gaskets, replace the cover plates, and then caulk around the cover plates.
When the bed bugs bite, we start the fight right!
